Are there phrases/sounds/songs etc that still no matter how long its been still remind you of your ex?
Lately, I have noticed certain things and sounds remind of my ex and get on my NERVES! Such as:
- the sound of glass beer bottles clanging together in a carton. Ugh he would bring in a half of a 12 pack almost everyday after work and throw 'em in the fridge.
-Phrases such as 'people get what they deserve" he used to say this all the time especially about my Mom he hated her. I heard it in a song today.
-Pretty much any Jason Aldean song that involves drinking, women, beer or partying. Dirt Road Anthem was his anthem. And loud trucks, he loved to rev his truck up be obnoxious.
Anyone else have certain things that remind them of their ex? It may just be me I am a very sound oriented person.
Adultfriendfinder.com? When people tell story of their cheating asshole exes? Nothing else really anymore. Songs USED to remind me of him, but I don't even remember which songs anymore.
My first ex-boyfriend, I dedicated the song "Smile" by Lily Allen to him, so I always smirk and remember that now, but IT'S FUNNY!

Camouflage anything…especially hats
Seeing men in dirty/holy jeans and work boots – this was XH’s staple wardrobe
Driving past the establishment where XH had a “session” at (according to the receipt I found in his pocket when I was doing his laundry) – it’s on my way to/from picking up DS from XH
Seeing/hearing commericals for any fire/smoke/mold restoration company (That's where XH worked the majority of our relationship)
John Deere - dude was obsessed with John Deere - especially 1/64th scaled toy tractors. We had a whole room in our basement full of them. His 30th birthday was spent in Illinois at the John Deere plant. We took a few random weekend trips to Iowa to the IRTL factory that made the toys. And he wasn't even a farm boy...
Not that I want to be reminded of him, but yah a few things:
-the smell of McDonalds, which completely grosses me out now. He was never home before 11pm towards the end of our marriage. He'd stop and get a 20 pack of mcnuggets and come home and eat them and we'd usually end up fighting about WHY he was home so late. It was such a horrible time. McDonalds is something I can't eat anymore.
-my co-worker's husband. Seriously every time she talks about him he reminds me more of XH. Most recent example: she's studying for the same test I took (CFP) and she's a month out. She's really hammering down with her studying and he's having to pick up extra slack with their toddler. He gave her the guilt trip all last weekend and told her she was taking away from their family time. Stupid, simple minded, inconsiderate man. I hope she doesn't have more children with him.
-the smell of stale beer
-the smell of Irish Spring-it was what he always wore
-the Kid Rock song "Cocky". That was XH's theme song, lmao.

Bahahaa....this made me LOL.
FF and his grandpa have over 30 antique John Deere tractors that they've restored together...but they're full scale. And they actually farm (not with the antique ones, but normal farming tractors). Their obsession makes sense, ha!

After I hit post, I realized that your John Deere wedding pic was above mine. haha
Yeah, that obsession makes sense. It was more like he was a child. In fact, the neighbor boy used to like to come over and try and play with them. There were only certain ones that could be played with. XH had a table set up with a farm scene on it. He'd play down there often.
And as I type that out, I think it makes him sound really strange. I mean that is really strange, but he really wasn't ALL that strange...

Why do I have the mental image of a creeper in a basement playing with his farm set and the neighbor kid???
Honestly, most of the time I forget I was even married before. It feels like it all happened to someone else.
We never actually got married, but I'm pretty much here. It feels like a distant memory. If things remind me of him, it's more like how something would remind me of an acquaintance I know.

My memories lately are stores, whenever I go into our neighborhood grocery store, Costco, or even Dillards since they have a good big&tall section. I try and avoid these places as I get really panicky and anxious, ugh! :-(
My XH is Indian, so Indian food, Bollywood films, etc all remind me of him and make me feel kind of left out of Indian culture now that I'm no longer married into it.
More troubling - A new colleague reminds me of a guy I dated last year. They look and act similar, and I instinctively don't like him for that reason.

Not much really. Like if I hear our wedding ceremony songs I'll think oh hey its my wedding song but there isn't much that really makes me think about HIM.
I think the most recent thing was going out last weekend in the town we used to live in. Being at the same restaurant we went to on occasion, and driving in the same area. That hit me harder than I thought it would. But day to day stuff... Not really. A couple songs, or a tv show he used to like.
