Apparently BF is being sent home, and given that he works at a hospital, that's a big deal. So, he's going to come pick me up from work, and I'll leave my car at work overnight, since there are fewer trees there than at my house or his! He's got a generator, so I'm going to work from home at his place tomorrow.
XFI and his family are all in Delaware...I know they've already lost power!
I'm outside of Baltimore. Still have power at J's house, but I've heard people are starting to lose it. Windy and rainy, some heavy gusts. It's supposed to get bad around 6 and then worse after 9. The shore is completely flooded. The pics on fb are bad.
J works for the state and had to go in. I'm hoping he doesn't have to stay all night.
Upstate NY here too (there are so many of us!) . It is dark and rainy. I work at a hospital though so we never close or get to leave early. A little nervous about our trees.
BF is in an area that's been getting hit pretty hard. A lot of the town has been flooded since yesterday. Luckily, the flooding hasn't hit his house yet, but it's getting close. He still has power, thankfully, but not sure how long that will last since landfall should be hitting any time.
I've been glued to the weather channel today. I can only imagine what my blood pressure is right now lol.
Brooklyn/queens NY--Rain and strong wind here..got home from work ok, no traffic at all. It's getting worse, have to go to work tomorrow or no pay because its a state of emergency..damn hospital! My kitties are scared...I hope the power stays on!!
WNY here. The wind is picking up. It's been raining all day. We are supposed to get the brunt of it over night. I am thinking about sleeping on the trundle in DD1's room since my bedroom is right under our tree, just in case. Just got the call that school is cancelled tomorrow, now waiting for the call that the office is closed (not gonna happen).
I am so, so thankful I'm not in my old apt--where xh and I lived. The news just showed the pizza place 2 blocks away and it's under 4 feet of water. Omg!
still no power, had to take everything out of the freezers today to a friend's house who has power, another friend who lives in the next town over got power back today. so far the basement has not flooded, fingers crossed. but at least nothing happened to either one of our houses.
being frugal, we had been waiting to hook up the generator since DH and BIL were going to do it themselves...bad call, should have spent the money to do it.
work, being stupid called us in for 3 hours yesterday, there were no gas stations open and 2 functioning traffic lights, we had no internet or email, so we could do nothing...so they closed the base today. thankfully i have tomorrow off so even if the base is up and running, i don't have to go in.
MCC, our admin said the same, that they are limiting fuel to the small containers. I was so happy last night when we found a gas station in stroudsburg open so we could put gas in the car...if they were going to keep calling us into work, we would run out of fuel.
i'm keeping warm in my winter running clothes and lots of blankets at night. our basement is about 10 degrees warmer. DH wants to move down there.
only benefit of going into work yesterday was to check on my house and to take a shower at the ATF.
i see a lot of people out trying to help each other out though, but disasters bring out the best and/or worst in some people
that's awesome about the golf club...i was getting tired of cold pizza so we went up to stroudsburg last night. the thing that i was most angry about was the fact that for a while we had no cell coverage and between us we have sprint, verizon, and at&t. so in case of an emergency we can do....nothing.
my brilliant plan was to order 2 large pizzas since we can eat cold pizza and bake brownies before we lost power. it worked, but it wasn't fun. and i'm kind of tired of pizza now.
i have a friend in Flanders who didn't lose power at all so i don't know if there are some non-flooded gas stations on 206 by her and the Chester NJ area.
Still no power.....no water.....getting sick.....gas lines are hours long... Just hoping that the power gets up and running soon. Again we are lucky Compared to some
my mom found some helpful info on lehighvalleylive.com about where to find places that were open if you are thinking about going to Easton (which is about 25 min from us). that was the other perk of going to work for 3 hours yesterday, i could call her and she could do some online research for me.

I lived in Flanders until I was 5...this post made me wonder how that house is doing. Sounds like probably ok.
