My husband and I are currently in disagreement about when trick or treating should end. He wanted to turn off the lights a little after 8. I think 10pm is the right time to turn off the lights. What do you guys think?

The set hours in our community are 6-8pm. I was going to leave the lights on until 9pm because I remember staying out until at least 9 when I was kid. But after 8:15 they stopped coming.
We heard the church bells ring at 8pm. I couldn't figure it out until it clicked that it was probably the cut off time telling people to get home. LOL

The concept of a set time and a set day (other than the actual day) is very foreign to me. I don't remember these restrictions growing up. And I recall being out fairly late (at least past 9 and I wasn't the last one in). Is this new or am I crazy? (I realize these are not mutually exclusive).

People stopped coming shortly before 8 PM. My neighbor has a haunted house in her garage and I still haven't fixed my front walk. So we basically hang out in our driveways talking. When there was noone else on the street, we called it a night.
The first trick or treaters were right around 6 pm.
Had our last ones just after 8pm and turned off the lights at 8:15. The rest of the neighborhood was dark, so must have been the last house. 8pm is the normal time when kids stop coming.

We turned the light off after giving candy to the group of kids who rang our doorbell at 9:35. I thought that was getting too late - I was surprised they were still out.
