Is this common in your hood? One of our neighbors just posted on the fb page that they went through 300 full size candy bars tonight? Wth.. We gave out 2 snack size chocolates per kid. Now I'm thinking we are the house with the bad stuff.

How is that possible? Wouldn't 300 full-sized bars be like $300? I don't know---candy went way up since the last time I bought it. I couldn't stomach $8/bag for little fun-sized.
We always buy full size bars for TOT when we have coupons at Costco. When I give out the little ones I give two or three, and the cost of 30 big ones at costco with the coupons is $10-12, so not too expensive.
We gave them out the last two years, but not this year. I feel terrible about it. We live down a long hill and I heard two separate groups of kids talking about the full sized bars they got at our house last year. I gave 4 fun sized 3 musketeers each, but I don't think that made up for it. We only get about 50 toters.
ok, I can see it being extra fun if the house is far away like some pps, but in my area where the houses are close together and 10 feet off the sidewalk I'm not worried about the kids getting enough candy to eat.
I was talking to a CW yesterday and he said that in the fancy area near where he lives, they give out full sized bars. All the houses do and he said that they buy THOUSANDS of bars.

I heard rumors that some folks in our neighborhood were handing out full size bars (my kids are older so they don't TOT anymore). I don't know how on Earth they could afford it because we had hundreds of kids come to our door.
It happens sometimes, but it's neither normal nor expected. We give out individual bags of chips (usually 80 ToTs, but only 57 this year), and it's not expensive. $11 for 50 at Sam's Club.

We give out full sized candy bars. A 30 pack from Costco is $14. Its fun to hear the reactions from kids when they see the full sized candy.
ETA: We only had 35 kids this year. Last year, we purchased two boxes (60 total) and only had 2 left at the end of the night. It started raining at about 7:30 last night so I think that drove people inside.
I give out full size candy bars, and I had over 300 TOTs last night. I think its fun to see how excited they get. Its also not all candy bars I give out, some welch's fruit snacks, nerds rope, what every I can find that's a bigger size.
When I was a kid there was a house whose owners owned a bottling factory. They gave out cans of soda. That and the full sized bars were the Halloween Holy Grail.
My parents did this growing up because my dad worked at a chocolate factory and could get full sized bars for very very cheap. People today still comment that they remember our house because of that hahaha.
My parents give out bags with several full-size bars. They get on average 5 trick or treaters (in some years, 0) so it isn't like they're spending a lot to do that. But that was typical in my neighborhood growing up because the houses were far apart so nobody trick or treated there.
I don't know what other houses in our neighborhood give out, but based on the brief glimpses I see when kids hold out their baskets for me to put candy in, I don't think they're very common. They were unheard of when I was a kid. The only person I knew who gave full size bars was my rich aunt and we all thought she was crazy or that that's how they did it in her city. lol.
They would have been fun to get as a kid, though. We don't have as many TOTers as we used to since our neighborhood is kind of transitioning from little kids to teenagers; maybe I'll pick some up for next year.

Your dad worked at a chocolate factory? I bet you were the most popular kid in school!
