PSA: Don't wear sequins to the airport

The body scanners can't distinguish them from something more dangerous. I wore a sequin front tank under a sweater and the girl behind me had a sequin front tank with a blazer and we both got pat downs and our hands swiped and tested for explosives due to how the scanners see sequins. They turn your chest bright yellow on the screens that show the body scan results and therefore prompt further investigation.

So yeah, that was fun...

Oh my goodness - this happened to me a few months ago. H and I planned to go straight to dinner once he picked me up at the airport, so I wore a sequin cowl neck tank under a cardigan. The agent was friendly - she told me she had done the same thing and swears to never wear sequins again to the airport.

One time I wore a pretty full maxi skirt and they made me stand in lunge positions to pat me down and make sure I didn't have anything hidden on my legs.

So sequined top plus ball maxi would be the worst combo ever.

Yes! This happened to me in August. I had on a simple cotton tank with clear sequins down the front.

Also, for some reason, every time I fly, the TSA agent wants to look under my watch. It's not a large one, maybe 1in diameter? WTH

That happened to me too, but I didn't realize it was b/c of the sequins.

I've also had my hair patted down b/c I had a metal clip pinning my bangs back, and my bangs were a little poufed in front. I was like, really? I can take the clip out for you...

This is so good to know. A large portion of my closet is sequins. I'll have to pack them instead of wearing them.
