I'm not talking about those fanatics who own only Disney clothing and go every single year. On talking about a normal person who doesn't have kids enjoying a day at the park.
But I might be biased because I hung out at Disneyland most weekends in high school. Yet somehow only have a couple Disney-themed things (a t-shirt from Target, a hat from the golden anniversary because my old company took us all as a morale booster and got us all the hats).
I'm telling you, these are the same people who refuse Christmas presents and no longer give presents to adults the moment a kid's in the picture. Fun is only for children. God, it's going to be a looooong life if you feel that way.
I fear Disney with kids. Those little fun suckers will want naps in the middle of the day or get cranky. Or won't be able to go on the good rides.
I'll join in a side eye of Disney wedding/honeymooners any day of the week though. Or people who side eye Disneyloonies while attending an "exclusive preview of Fantasyland." Snicker.
My parents are going in about a month...just the two of them. They've gone before without any kids along. They just really enjoy going. I don't think they go to Magic Kingdom since that's geared more toward kids, but they really enjoy Epcot.
Bowies, we ended up taking the bus back at noon nearly every day for lunch and then a nap, for all of us. The heat can really do you in! We'd head back out at about 2-3 and everyone was refreshed, really the way to go if your staying more than 3 days!
I grew up going to Disneyland, but before we got married DH had never been. We were in San Diego for his work, and went for a weekend after we got married. Yes, it was part of our honeymoon, but we weren't the couple wearing the "Bride" and "Groom" Mickey Mouse ears. For the last couple of years my dad has paid for DH and I, and my bro and SIL and nephew to go to Disney with them and stay at the Grand Californian for a week. We still don't take any kids with us, but we still have fun, in the group or just the two of us. I guess that makes us retarded.
ETA: And we both buy Disney hats when we get there. We live in WA, there's the chance of us bursting into flame exposed to that much sun all at once.
H and I went to Disneyland for our honeymoon and had a great time! We got a city pass and also went to California Adventures, Sea World, and Universal Studios as well. Flame away.
Mrs.Rad, I'm jealous that you've gotten to stay at the Grand Californian. My parents live pretty much right down the street, so I never have an excuse to stay at any of the hotels.
Oh, and when I was in high school, I was all about the idea of a wedding at Disney, just without all the characters. But I did want my wedding dress modeled after Sleeping Beauty's gown. Which is one of many reasons I didn't get married at 16.

I grew up at disneyland. I used to go there to study when I was in high school. As an adult, I love(d) going with friends and H. I look forward to taking Petite Fleur to Disney (land or world) but also the time H and I will be able to spend alone there. I see nothing wrong with enjoying a fantasy-escape into wonderful memories of childhood.
