doctor said we'll "keep an eye on her head"

I have friends whose kids had to get MRIs and shit because they had big heads even though nothing was ever wrong and I'm worried we're going to end up in the same boat.

DS is in the 10th and 20th percentiles for height and weight respectively. He is 70 percentile for head. The doctor took a look at my head and said well we know where he gets that from

that was so sweet of the doc, lol. Dh and I kinda had big heads as babies, but we were also big babies (both over 9lbs at birth).

hopefully her body will catch up some the next couple of months.

We're in the same boat. He's lower than 5th percentile for his body and 50% for his head! This is for his adjusted age (5 months opposed to almost-7 months). He was like this in the womb too (he had assymetrical IUGR which means that his head was on target but his body ended up being 4 weeks behind in gestational age).

I'm going with the belief that my little bobblehead will grow into his large noggin ;-)

Did pedi say it could maybe be because she is a preemie? Two of my kids have heads in the 90th percentile and that is what the Dr always has said.

I don't remember what % he is, but yes. At 19 months he wore the same size hat as his adult aunt. The poor kid definitely got my head, but it appears DHs height.

I'm not really worried. She is able to hold it up really well and has great neck control. Not rolling yet but doctor was not concerned about that.

Lurker, but my son has an enormous head! 99th percentile every single check up. He's 70th for height and weight, but they aren't concerned. He gets it from me!

He's been growing symmetrically since he's been out in this world. His head was always on target for his age... his body was always behind and it's still that way.

He does have awesome neck control, but we go to physical therapy which seems to be helping with that as it took him a little bit. But now he's doing great!

Unfortunately he may have to be fitted for a helmet in the coming weeks/months, but that's a post for another day.

Ha yes, DS has a huge head - he's 90th percentile for length, 50th for weight and then like 90 or 95th for head. It never occurred to me to worry - DH has a big head too lol

DS is 40 weight, 50 height, and 95 head. lol. But he looks like he has a tiny head. the Dr hasn't ever said anything about it though, I didn't think to even worry about it!

DS is 30/30/75. He has always had a big head. We always make a joke at our appts about it and the dr has never said anything about keeping an eye on it. She has always said it is normal! I swear though that it took him a little getting used to once he was walking/running/climbing - it definitely had him off balance for a bit.

My nephew was all head. There are funny stories about his adult-sized head, even as a toddler. He's fine, and they never did any extra tests on him

Both my kids have had 95+% heads since birth. DS1 is about 50% in weight and 75% in height (though it was flip-flopped when he was an infant) and DS2 is about 40-50% across the board (though he was closer to 25% when he was younger), so both of them have disproportionately large heads.

Our ped has never seemed concerned or suggested any sort of testing, and it has not caused any issues (aside from the fact that they tore my vag to shreads on their way out). They are both very bright kids without any developmental or health concerns.

My daughter's head was off the charts from the time she was about 3 months old, and still is. She ended up having an MRI, and it was a concern. She had a condition with a long name that meant "water on the brain" that is a totally normal thing that some babies deal with. The expectation was that her head growth would stabilize around 9 months. Her 15 month appointment is the first that her head didn't get any bigger, do here's hoping that trend keeps up! She's outgrown many outfits simply because I couldn't get the shirt over her big head. Fortunately her height and weight have generally always been 90%+, so she doesn't look like a bobble head.

My 1 year has a larger head than I do (and mine is in the 99th percentile for an adult female). He has had a few head CTs, mainly because he was a preemie and had a brain bleed. No fluid/enlarged ventricles. Do you have a family history of large heads? Also, is her head on its own growth curve?

DD will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. Her head is in the 98th percentile. No one has brought up concerns yet...

DD has been in the 50th percentile for height and weight, and 80th for head. She goes next week for her 9mo, so we'll see how she's doing. I am a baby headband lover, and there were a bunch she could never wear!

I have no experience, DD head is tiny. However I agree that her head does not look large in your sig picture.

At birth, DD's head was something like 98th percentile. This probably explains why I had to push for 3 hours. I wasn't really surprised -- my DH has a really large head. As in, he can't find baseball hats or bicycle helmets that fit.

She was full term and quite high on the charts for both height and weight also. No doctor -- either the pedis in the hospital who tended to her or her regular doctor -- has ever said anything about it.

14 inches. The epidural had worn off by the time I delivered. No wonder it was 3.5 hours of pushing.

At least she doesn't look disproportionate. And yes we size waaaaay up in hats.

Yes, each of mine have distortion ally large heads, but so does my DH and each of them resembles him greatly. We have never had an MRI. That does not seem like a good reason -- alone -- for radiation exposure as an infant.

My DD consistently measures 99th percentile for her head. DH has a huge melon. I'm not worried - her head is in proportion for the most part. We have so many awesome hats that she could never wear...

all 3 of my boys have heads in the 90's percentile wise. My husband is Irish and I'm german- we have huge heads. all of us.
