What did you do with your baby at your first pp appointment? He's only a few weeks old and has never used a bottle, so I can't just leave him with someone and DH will be at the dentist's office. If you took your baby along, what did you do with him? We don't use an infant carrier so I'm trying to see myself peeing in a cup and with my feet in the stirrups with DS strapped to me in a Moby.

My doc has a small practice, both times the nurse came in and held/snuggled the baby. They said they look forward to the 6 week appts when they can see the babies.
He stayed in the carseat until he started crying and then the nurses held him and coo'd over him while the doctor finished inserting my Mirena. They seemed more than happy to do this and treated it like it was no big deal.
I never thought of the stroller. It's just an umbrella, but it reclines pretty far and I have a head support thingy that I can put in it. I usually just carry him around in one arm while I do everything with the other. So simple most of the time.
I brought him with. I didn't have to get in the stirrups or per in a cup. It was basically just chatting about my recovery and BCP options. I set him down for a minute so he could verify my ute was shrinking okay but that's it. He was fussy so I actually BFed him during most of the appointment.
I brought her, the dr took forever to get to me and by the time he came in I was bfing her naked on the table. Her came back ten minutes later and she was howling, so a nurse held her. Good times all around

I held the baby during the internal exam both times. I set him/her down on the exam table while I changed. I was standing right there, so I wasn't worried about sudden rolling.
I don't remember peeing in a cup during the visit.
I brought DD in her carrier. She did not take a bottle (not that we didn't give a bottle--she refused if it was offered) so I nursed her there. No big deal.

I brought her in her carseat. When she started fussing during the internal, the nurses held her. I nursed her there before I left. It wasn't a big deal.
She hung out n the carrier in the stroller. I turned her when the doctor did the exam. Not a big deal.
Try to time the nursing with the appointment? Why not just give a bottle?
Wait- you didn't want your 6wk old to see your vag? Why?
I'm so glad you pointed this out because I missed it when I read that. WTF, your kid just emerged into the world from that orafice and you think he/she shouldn't see it?
As for the question, my MIL watched her, but I had to come back a month later for an ultrasound to check the placement of my Mirena, and I had DD on my chest while I had the vaginal ultrasound.
The nurses were all so excited to see her -- they were actually disappointed I hadn't brought her to my PP appointment.
I'm glad so many people just held their LOs during the exam. I can take the stroller, but it just seems so cumbersome. The staff is so sweet at this place, so I bet they would enjoy seeing him.

My situation was a bit different since my midwives came to our home for the first visit. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I am guessing I was nursing him when they examined me.
For the 6 week one, I went to a the midwife and I just nursed DS while she did the lower exam. Then she held him when she did the rest. I think my midwife would have been sad if I didn't bring ds in! They all wanted to see him.
I took my babies both times. I took an infant seat, and I think they stayed in it for part of the time, but I know I ended up holding one or both or them for at least part of the exam.

I brought DD in her car seat for my 6 week PP exam (and the nurses fawned all over her during most of my appointment) and wore her in the Moby at my appointment a week later to insert my IUD.

Both kids went with me. The nurses either held them or played with them while they sat in the car seat. It's a pretty quick visit if you've had a normal recovery.
