If you love it, I say go for it! Wallets get a lot of use so I think that a $200 wallet can definitely be justified by the price to number of uses ratio.

For DH's birthday once, a $125 Coach wallet. For myself, probably $25 max.

I thought it was insane at the time, but it's held up spectactularly over several years of using it every day. And I still love it, so I'd probably do it again.

I have a Kate Spade wallet and love it. I think the most I ever paid was $298. If memory serves.

H bought me a Louis Vuitton wallet for an anniversary. I know they are probably $400-$500. It shows no wear after a couple of years.

For me...$50 maybe. For my H-$300 LV. One of us prefers quality over quantity...lol

As discussed above, my LV one did not.

My current wallet is holding strong after 2 years, but it has only been 2 years.

I would say that yes, a good wallet does really last a long time. The problem is that not all expensive wallets = good.

Most I've ever spent was $30. I've only had 2 wallets since I was 18. A Billabong one on super sale for like $10 and then the $30 Relic one I currently have.

I would, however, spend $200 if I was in love with one that much.

Well that sucks. I have yet to have problems with LV. All holding together so far. And in general, I would say I am not very careful. :N:

It's the only LV thing I have ever had a problem with! (And I do like my LV things so there are quite a few things I haven't had a problem with.)

My Prada wallet (Saffiano leather) was not worth the price. It looked like crap after a year. My current LV wallet (purple Epi leather zip around) has held up great. Who knows.

I would spend that much. The most I've spent is $110 on a Hobo Lauren clutch/wallet. I've carried it for six years, and it still looks great. I'll buy another one soon, but only because I want another color for summer use.

I think I got my Cole Haan one for about $150ish on sale two or three years ago. I maybe could take it to a leather store and have it shined up, but thus far, looks almost like new. It was my first semi-pricey wallet and it was way worth it.

I still have pipe dreams to buy an LV wallet, so whatever the retail price is on that, is my limit. Right now all I got is a Coach that has been with me for YEARS. I don't think I spent more than $150 for it at the very best.

I say if you like it, and can afford it, just get it.

I have a green leather Coach wallet, that I can't remember how much I spent on it.

I'd probably gulp at $200, but the perfect wallet is the perfect wallet. If it's one of your "splurge" things, that's ok, we all have one or another!

My husband just bought me a Tory Burch wallet for my birthday. It was $180 during friends and family. I felt slightly guilty but then I rememebred how nice the leather feels and how crappy my existing Coach wallet is and it made all my worried melt away.

ETA: H has a matching Burberry for $250 ish. He got it like 5 years ago and is rough with it. Still in great shape.

I don't think I have spent more than $50-75 on a wallet. My current one was about that at the Kate Spade outlet. For some reason I just can't stomach spending big money on wallets, though I have no issues spending several hundred on a handbag.
