I won't be doing it but I had to say on my hospitals birth plan form if I wanted to see the placenta after birth. I'm still up in the air on even seeing that thing!
I asked to see it and I think my OB was like, "WTF?" It was cool. I was amazed at how big it was!
Poor H was awesome for labor and watched me crap myself for 4 hours straight and heard the scissors cut me during my episiotomy without batting an eyelash but the placenta made him want to hurl.
I think it's kind of cool, given all of the supposed benefits. I could see myself having it encapsulated after my next birth, if we have another. But it really comes down to me being too lazy. I don't even take my prenatals regularly, I probably won't pay to have placenta pills I'll forget to take.

Not something I would do personally, but to each their own.
I told my husband that I didn't want to see my placenta after birth since I saw one in our birth class video and that was good enough for me. Apparently, my OB and husband were both in shock over how small mine was - hearing that later, I kind of wished I would have asked to see it.
I saw mine it was really cool! I was surprised how small it was but given that DS was little it made sense.
Same. I asked to see mine with DS2, and it was so much smaller than I anticipated. It was like the size of a salad plate. My OB was surprised at how small it was, too. There is no way there would have been enough of it to make that bear. DS2 was 6lbs.6oz. at term (and a pound smaller than my older kid), and I have wondered if his tiny placenta had something to do with it.

I would've liked to have seen my placenta. It wasn't offered to me either time (and I didn't think to ask), but I'm not sure whether it would've been an option anyway since I had c/s.
I have a friend who buried hers and planted a tree for each kid.

I had mine encapsulated. Its just like taking a pill. I have had a great recovery, lost weight quickly, have had lots of energy, and a great milk supply.
I'm a first time mom so I have nothing to compare it to, but my friends have made comments about how well I am recovering.

That's crazy--mine was at least the size of a dinner plate, and DS was 9 lb 5 oz.

I don't know what I was expecting to see, but that was all kinds of gross! Very "its rubs the lotion on the skin" kind of vibe.
I talked to my OB about seeing the placenta post-delivery. She was pretty excited about having a patient that was interested in seeing it. I took a pass on encapsulation, I just don't think I could do that. To each their own, but its just not for me.
