can you give me some suggestions? I am drawing a blank. I want to give Squirms a classic book every year at Christmas for her to hold on to and use when she (hopefully) has kids someday.
I was thinking Goodnight Moon, since we don't have it, but dh doesn't like that book
What about the Beatrix Potter books? You can find some beautiful editions of them. Or the Eric Carle books? And I love the old Dr Seuss books, and Corduroy is a huge hit in our house. So is Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Where The Wild Things Are? Madeline? You could do beautiful editions of fairy tales too - DD just started getting WAY into the old fairy tales, so we've been getting gorgeously illustrated versions from the library - Rapunzel, Chicken Little, The Princess & The Pea, Hansel & Gretel, stuff like that?
I might get Petunia, we checked it out from the library and really liked it. It is long though.
I love Ferdinand but we checked it out and dh thought it was weird, what with the people trying to kill the bull and all, but whatever, Ferd is a survivor thanks to laziness!

Aww that's sad! You should tell him how it was written as an anti-war story back in the 30's!
Rikki Tikki Tavi (I remember watching the movie every year on TV--those were the days) Velveteen Rabbit The Giving Tree Knuffle Bunny and its 2 sequels The Beatrix Potter collection (DH just picked the set up for not much at Costco) Dr Seuss Where the Wild Things Are (we read it regularly around here)
It's boring, there's no plot, and I don't really like the illustrations.
LOL. Most of DD's books are pretty boring (esp after reading them for the umpteenth time . She gets a kick out of finding the mouse and pointing out different stuff in the pictures, though. *Shrug*
