I have not had my mail forwarded internationally. I get a big package of mail from the U.S. once every six weeks or so. The neighbor collecting it for me at home knows to tell me ASAP if I get something like a jury duty notice. Otherwise, no big deal.
Most of my bills are automated and most friends who want to send me something ask for my address abroad.
Not having to deal with junk mail every day is actually one of the little stress-relievers of my current life. I love not having to go through the mail every day.
dude, checking the mail is one of the highlights of my day.
+1!!! Though its fallen off the must-do list lately because if the baby. But u did a bunch of online shopping in the last week so I'm super excited to check the mail in the next few weeks.
Our mailbox is in the wall next to the front door, and we have a little door to check it from inside the house. We have no excuse not to check it every day.
Every few days. Our mailbox is right outside our house, but it's not something we walk past coming in or out. Even at that, we still often have only 1-2 pieces of mail, and it's usually junk. Most of our bills are on e-bills.
When I lived in an apartment, I walked past the mailbox every day, and I still let it build up for a week or so. I wasn't in any hurry to recycle the junk. I'd do a purge and shred on the weekends.
I will say, in college? I freaking loved mail! In the days before my parents were on email, I got all kinds of letters and clippings from my mom. Care packages every few weeks. Rarely any kind of bill. And when my magazines came? I was like Billy Madison on nudie magazine day. Cosmo magazine day, Cosmo magazine day! J. Crew and delia*s catalogs were a treat, because practically all of my income was disposable!! Ah, to be young again...
Everyday, only because of a) Netflix and b) I have a small mailbox and I feel bad if the mailman has to deal with cramming more junk in there everyday.
We don't get that much mail and I still check it daily. Our mailbox is at the front of our yard (~50-75ft from the front door) but even when we lived in a townhouse with it farther away I checked daily.

We aim for once a week but its sometimes a little more or a little less often. All of our bills are on auto-pay or I get them electronically. I mainly get the mail because the box fills up with advertising crap that goes straight into the trash.
I got flamed for this before...but lately I've been checking my PO Box monthly. I don't get any bills and have packages sent directly to my work or home.
Which reminds me, I need to switch to a closer post office this weekend.

You got flamed for that because there were presents and checks in your PO box though, right?
You shouldn't let things of value waste away in there!

I don't think there were any checks. Presents (cards with gift cards) that I'm not expecting are perfectly fine to sit in my box for a month. They aren't "wasting away" if I'm not checking it daily. 8-D
Our mail comes late in the afternoon (like 4 or 5). I am home from work by 2:30 most days so unless I have errands to run I don't leave the house again. We can go 2-3 days without checking it even though it is not far from the house.
