yeah lisa got trolled after her baby was born and she made the "lillala" screen name. I liked her on the DC board back in the day (I liked everyone on that board!) and they were the ones that introduced me to MM as so many post over here.
The fruit sizes are in the What to Expect book. I have several friends who have never heard of The Nest who would tell me what fruit week they were on during pregnancy thanks to What to Expect.
Yes. She said in her email to me that she was getting the fruits from the book. I know she didn't figure out the fruits all on her own. But I do know that for me, it was the first time I saw them as tickers on the nest. I think that's also what CloudBee meant.
Sorry, I wasn't clear that I think it's probably more likely that the Nest got the idea from the WTE book than from a forum poster--especially since they also rolled out the fetal development tickers at the same time. But who knows. It was definitely a clever and unique idea when she did it.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that babycenter has had fruit tickers for years - before LLL had her baby.
Sorry I'm really trying not to start an argument over this because I really don't care so I have no idea why I'm replying but it seems like people are not understanding what I'm trying to say. Cloudbee's point was just that she thought LLL brought the fruit ticker idea to the nest, and I was backing that up. Maybe LLL plagarized the other boards for the ticker idea, or maybe she came up with it on her own, and it also happened to be on other boards. I have no clue, nor do I really care. My point was just to back up CB's post that the fruit tickers didn't exist ON THE NEST before LLL. That they existed in books or on other websites doesn't really disprove that so I don't understand why people are fighting me on this really stupid point.
All I can say is that fruit tickers are better than weird 3D fetus tickers, so I am grateful that they did make their way here, however they got here.
ETA - also I feel like a tool for continued posting about this. Sigh. Maybe it is time to leave the nest for the evening as I'm getting ragey about stupid shit. LOL.
Fruit tickers freak me out :-( I saw one that said, "Baby is now the size of an olive!" My first reaction was "Mmm...olives." Followed quickly by cannibal revulsion.

Sorry ESF! I'm not trying to fight with you about it. It's not a big deal and I totally agree that it was unique and new to the Nest when she did it, like I said above. There's really no way to know if the powers that be on The Nest came up with the idea on their own or from LaLa or another source. It would be interesting if they actually took inspiration from posters like that. I never felt like they paid a ton of attention to us (until we all left).
I was never trying to argue. I think it's an interesting discussion. I bet LaLa would LOVE it if her pictures influenced the ticker though.

Cheers, don't be mad.
I am blaming my tenacity over this issue on the subject line referencing the most tenacious posters ever on the board.
I wonder if grrly's husband ever found another job
What is the story with this? Are you referring to her last blog post about him being unemployed? Or is there more?
I have never read her blog before today but it creeps me out a little when bloggers fall off the face of the earth like that without a "goodbye I won't be blogging anymore" post.

I met Grrly! We took our kids to Sesame Place, even though my kid hadn't seen much Sesame Street at the time. I have a picture of both our kids looking terrified of Elmo somewhere. She was totally sweet and normal. I missed some of the drama related to her, though, I tended to tune out of welfare / college threads.
