I did not register for any bottles since I knew many babies are picky and it would likely be trial and error. We ended up trying several different kinds, Nuk, Avent, Dr. Browns, and Tommee Tippee. Squirms only likes Dr. Browns and Tommees. Our lactation consultant had good things to say about the wide mouth "boob likes" bottles and many BF moms I knew recommended TTs. You can buy individual bottles in each brand to try so you can sample them. I would recommend registering for a few individual bottles, not packs.
Back in the days when he took a bottle, the only nipples he liked were the ones on the Born Free bottles (same as Avent). I really like them. They're fairly simple to clean and we never had any gassiness associated with using them.
The ONLY bottle my DD would even remotely take was the Gerber Nuk. We tried them all, and I mean all. She still only took like 2-3oz all day from the Nuk at daycare. It was such a nightmare.
We registered for Dr. Brown's but ended up taking them all back because she wouldn't take them.
All BF babies seem to have a different preference for bottle. I never found a one-size-fits-all approach though I heard good things about Breastflow more than any other brand. My advice would be to find something that works for your lifestyle (easy to clean, etc.... the Dr. Brown's bottles have a million tiny parts that I just didn't like to clean, for example) and try him on it as soon as BFing is well established. I think we probably did more harm than good by changing bottles around on DD trying to find a magical one that worked; the main reason she took the Nuk is because I was so frustrated at that point I was like we are sticking with this, come hell or high water. I think the consistency helped.
Edit to clarify: You may need to try a few different brands and that's fine--but we seriously went through a dozen or something and I don't think it was helpful.
Mine is an easy baby and went back and forth without problems. We use Dr. Brown's. Looking back, there are a lot of parts to them and since he didn't have a gas problem, we probably could have gotten away with cheaper, more basic bottles (Avent?).
Calma is a new Medela nipple designed for BF babies and I've also heard Tommy Tippee are good too.
DD wasn't picky and went between Medela and Avent and back to the boob. She was not so good with the Breastflow... there was always like an oz left in between the bottle and nipple.
DS loved the Born Free glass bottles. He went between bottle and boob with no problem.
I would check with daycare about glass bottles. I know mine doesn't allow them.
Also, my baby hates the Born Free (as we know, every baby is different!!!)... we had registered for them but we never use them as they make him gassy! They're supposed to prevent gas but it does the opposite. We only use Avent.
Originally DD took Tommee Tippee fine, but then she started refusing bottles. Now she tolerates Lansinoh mOmma nipples. The mOmma bottles are annoying, but they fit on the Avent classic bottles.
Don't fall into the Dr. Brown's trap! I wish I could get back all those hours I spent washing the million parts. DD was gassy, though, so they probably helped. I like the wide bottles better than the skinny ones.
Also, it's BS that BF babies don't need bottles bigger than 4 ozs. DD regularly took 5-6 ozs by 6 months, so we had to buy bigger bottles and the 4 oz bottles we had were worthless.
That's all the input I have. I will probably start over with baby #2 and try TT or Avent.
I've had some friends complain about tomee tippee mold issues with washing and drying.
We're starting with the avent natural since baby bargains recommended them and they don't have all the parts like dr. brown's. Then again, who knows, so we'll see.
DD was very fussy with bottles. She would only drink happily from Born Free. She outright refused small nipples like Medela and Dr. Browns, which sucked bc those are awesome to pump directly into. I wound up using them for storage of BM. Very expensive storage :/
She drank from Avent but they leaked like whoa so I hated them.
DD also drank 6-8 oz of BM when she was older-- but we delayed solids bc of her food intolerances, so I don't know if that was a factor. We had a few 9 oz bottles and they got used, but we definitely got the most use out of the 5 oz bottles. (Born Free come in 5/9 oz)
Never tried Tommie Tippee but I heard good things.
Also, I had both glass and BPA free plastic and I vastly preferred plastic. One bottle broke, and they were so heavy. Daycare also refused to take glass, so keep that in mind.
My kid didnt care. She would drink out of a tin cup. She is formula fed, but went back and forth between Nuk and the playtex drop ins. Everyone said to get different bottles and try them - hopefully your child is less fussy.
My oldest wouldn't have cared. My second was very particular. We ended up with platex wide nipple ones. We tried all the fancy BF friendly ones and he wasn't having it. So cheap platex ventaire it was!

DS wasn't picky and took any bottle we put in front of him. We had DrBrowns, but since he wasn't picky we just went with the Playtex Ventaires and he was fine.
We started with Dr Brown's and he took them fine so we stuck with them. Had we needed to try something different, we would have gone to Tommy Tippee. Both of these were based on friend recs.
