Things are good, though! I'm back in the office three days a week, which sucks, but I'll get used to it. And we just confirmed our 4th exchange student, another girl from Germany!
So is everyone voting for Trone or Alsobrooks? I’m undecided but leaning Alsobrooks.
I'm alsobrooks but will finalize closer to. It would take a lot for me to vote for an annoying rich white man over a black woman though, given that fundamentally their stances are similar.
I’ve lost about 25 pounds since last January on Wegovy, which isn’t nothing but….I’d like to have lost more. I’ve definitely hit a stall these last few months, and I’m on the highest dose. It just doesn’t feel as effective anymore.
I’d love to switch to Zepbound, but my insurance won’t cover it unless I try three other meds first.
Two seats are up this year, and we have two INCREDIBLE candidates, and two M4L candidates.
Last cycle, we had three amazing candidates for three open positions. One won, but the other two seats went to M4L candidates.
It’s incredibly frustrating, and makes me want to move, but also makes me want to stay and keep fighting.
Amanda with the last name I'm going to misspell is running again, yes? And is the second person the same guy who ran last time? I voted for both (and Dorsey) and I was SO MAD M4L won. And Whisler (Whistler?) is a dick.
Yes, Amanda has formed a slate with Muri Dueppen, Slate for Student Success. Muri is a long-time education advocate.
I got a refund for an extended warranty on a car I traded in and it’s three times more than I was hoping for. Merry Christmas to me! It couldn’t have come at a better time.
Santa comes through my neighborhood on the fire truck tonight. My sisters and neighbors are coming over with their kids and everyone is wearing pj’s. It’s one of my favorite Christmas traditions. ❤️
I’ve thought about this a lot, as my mom is adamant she does not want to go into a nursing home. All of our parents and siblings are local, so in theory, that should make logistics easier.
Luckily, our parents are only in their early-mid 60s and in good health, so I’m hopeful I still have some time before we have to worry about caretaking. My parents will be fine financially, but I do worry about if my mom gets sick, any time soon, how we would care for her. I still have at least 20 years of work ahead of me.
MIL, I do worry about her financially. Her husband is older, and I’m fully prepared for her to eventually move into the apartment in our basement.
And Bernadine , do you know what time periods your grandmother prefers? Historical romance readers often stick with particular subgenres like Regency, Scottish, medieval, etc. Although Regency doesn't tend to be very light. My sister writes medieval Scottish historical romances as Emma Prince. And her favorite author is Lisa Kleypas, if that helps!
I’m not sure she has a specific subgenre, she doesn’t really buy books on her own, but seems to enjoy them when I get them for her! Of course, I can never remember what I’ve gotten her before, lol.
