Also, use Mint.com, it's great for budgeting. How bout one take out meal instead of two, one cute top instead of three, a new cell phone case instead of a new phone, generic groceries, drive less, coupon, color your own hair, Netflix only, shop around for better phone rates and car insurance, OR just take $300 right out of the top of your check, and put it in a savings account that you can't touch. No ATM card, no online xfers, you know so the only way you can touch it is if you go in and ask for it from a teller which at that point You should ask yourself "WTF am I doing"

Seriously, go to credit/financial counseling because if this is as much of a trend as these ladies say, you need more advice than just what we say. After all what do we know?
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), hair dyes are probably safe to use during pregnancy because so little dye is absorbed through the skin. However, it is still important to be cautious, therefore many health care providers recommend that pregnant women not use permanent hair dyes during the first three months.
While the absorption through the skin is minimal, the concern is that breathing fumes during the process could be harmful to the developing baby. Permanent hair dyes contain ammonia which has a strong chemical fume. The recommendation is to avoid hair dyes that contain ammonia. The chemical fume warning also applies to straightening products as well.
Semi-permanent dyes or a highlighting process may be considered safer for pregnant women. With highlights, the dye is enclosed in foil and won’t be absorbed into the skin. Vegetable dyes such as henna are also considered likely to be safe for coloring hair during pregnancy.

And FWIW, just so you don't think I'm perfect and never struggled. I bought DW some diamond earrings one Christmas, and after the bill started coming in, I REALLY couldn't afford it, I sucked it up and took them back go the Jewelers. I also bought a car couldn't afford it, and traded it in for a cheaper one. You have to WANT to change, not just say you do, then not be open to doing so.....

It CAN be safe, but why not save some money and not have to worry?
Her mom owns a salon and does it for free. This isn't a budgetary issue.
ETA: Or is a stylist or something but it's free for Lui.
i was just going off what someone else posted. I was just trying to help since she REFUSES to get rid of luxury items because she WANTS them even though she is filing bankruptcy, so, whatever.
I just don't get coming here for financial advice already saying things are non-negotiable, obviously you DON'T want to change. i hope you do, but I doubt it.
I'm not disregarding anything you guys are saying AT ALL.
I just called my uncle and left a message. He is a mechanic and is on good terms with every dealership in our city and has lots of close friends in the business. I am going to discuss with him my options to see if I can get something a little older and less expensive. He might be able to pull some strings to get me a decent trade.
I called my dad and started to cry. I don't want to get rid of my Fiat because I love it so much, but it is the best option right now.
Does anyone have any ideas how much a new car depreciates in value? Like how much will I lose on a trade? These are legit questions I'm asking myself because I'm seriously having a panic attack over this.

Also will your mom even let you sell the car? Does she expect her down payment back?
There was no down payment. It has a 1% finance rate and we got an awesome deal because we bought new. Part of the reason this car even happened for me.
Ugh.
I'm really trying. I don't want to be upside down on a car loan either though...

So essentially your mom did not buy you a car? She just signed for it?

I feel like you're going to come back to this board at the beginning of next week and tell us that your uncle helped you sell your car. You got an awesome deal on an older used car that you love, and the payments are super low. But you're not going to do it.
All of these things you're saying are so similar to the things you were saying when you were telling us you were going to move in with Jay because you "had no choice." Then suddenly you got a sublease from your cousin blahdy blahdy blah and you were super happy and "Thanks everyone for all your advice! I'm doing so well now! All I had to do was try!" And it was all a sham.
I still don't believe you're trying at all. And I really don't know why you even still come here, or why the people on this board keep pouring energy and emotions into you. This is going to be my last reply to this thread, mostly because I hate being a negative Nancy.
Liu, I hope that one day you will get the help you need. I don't think you understand how badly you need that help.

If you didn't put anything down on the car, you're most likely upside down but that doesn't mean you should keep it.
I kelly blue booked my car. it's valued at $11k (a little more but lets guesstimate).
My loan was originally for $18k. I've payed $1500 on my loan since May. So the math is $16, 500 left on my loan, correct?
If I trade my car for a 2009 civic (for example) that is $11k at the dealership, I will still be paying a $16,500 loan for an $11k car. That's not very cost efficient, is it?
I'm not trying to make an excuse. I'm looking into the prospects of trading my car.
You guys gave good advice and I'm trying to take it but it's hard to handle when people are less than helpful when I'm trying to wrap my head around stuff. I'm not super quick at the draw. I mull over things forever before I do it. For some reason it takes a while for things to "click" for me. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing in the long run.
Get a car that's cheaper than $11k. I make over three times what you make and I drive a 2006. You don't NEED a 2009. Your goal is to lower your car payments. Not to rationalize keeping the car you want.
Look, I had a car I couldn't afford in my younger and dumber days. It made things so tight for me. For what? It's just a car and so not worth. You need to start living within your means and $11k is above your means.

You need to drive a 1999 Civic. It is absurd to think you should be driving a new car.

Nope, you ARE making excuses. You KNOW you COULD get a cheaper car, but you are attempting to rationalize NOT doing it.
Actually, thank you for telling me what you THINK I'm doing. I am looking into it. I just requested more info on a 2006 Ford Focus.
I spoke with my father on the phone and he made me feel like a fucking idiot for 40 minutes. He thinks I'm stupid so yeah. Good times.
A 2006? Way too much money there too. A 1999 civic with moderate to low miles and that is CHEAP is what you need. A new car will require a payment which you obviously can't afford.
People are frustrated because you don't take really good, helpful and well intended advise AFTER you ask for help. By looking at a 2006 car, it is clear you ignoring what people are saying here.

Sorry we made your dad make you feel bad? Why are you depending on these people for so much (cars, child care) if they treat you this way?
Keep the car, i don't care. It's your choice, but saying you HAVE to keep the car and looking at cars that are newer than MOST people's is not TRYING, and you know it.
Look at other ways to cut finances if you HAVE to have this car, but keep in mind, it's not yours. It's protected from bankruptcy that way, but not from the whims of your mom. Maybe you can TRADE cars with your mom? And have a lower payment.
Get a cheaper phone, STOP EATING OUT, STOP BUYING PRESENTS. Take the phone you bought J back-there is $100. Sell OTHER valuables. Have any jewelry? an extra TV? do that. Buy off-brand food with coupons and cook at home. Eat leftovers. Don't buy any fun food (no ice cream, or potato chips, just the basics). it can be done and you can keep the car. My POINT with the car and the phone, is that you aren't WILLING to change. You talk the talk, but you don't walk the walk.

First off, a 1999 car is going to have over 100k miles. How smart is that? It's going to die before I pay it off. I'm not looking to be a total asshat. I think something a little more reliable is better.
PS-I drive a 2000 Honda and it works just fine AND is paid off. i can't afford a car payment, so I don't have one. I do have a nice phone, but I got it and it was paid for through the law firm I was working with at the time, now I am on H's military plan, so it is a LOT cheaper, and we CAN afford it. h and I eat out maybe twice a month.
and has over 100K on it. My subaru made it to over 200K. If it was well maintained, 100K isn't going to die on you. ESPECIALLY a well made car-Honda, Subaru, over a Ford.

For fucks sake. Get rid of your damn fiat. Get rid of your phone that costs 110/month. You do not deserve bankruptcy. Pathetic.
