I'll be the lone voice of dissent, I was NOT happy with the City Mini GT, thank God Amazon let me return it. It felt flimsy, like rickety. It is advertised as "all-terrain" but it is not, it could not handle our gravel driveway or grass. It slid and skidded along like an umbrella stroller. The seat is poorly cushioned, and there's no sides or anything so the moment LO lets go of something boom it's on the floor. You really have to yank the fold handle to make it fold, and it doesn't automatically lock like it's supposed to 75% of the time. When it's folded the seat is exposed, and if I had had it long enough I'm sure it would have gotten all scuffed up. I was so so SO in love with the City Mini GT before I bought it, I was bummed it didn't work out. Just thought my opinion might help. ;-)
I returned it and got a BOB which is fantastic for my needs but definitely not for yours. Ditto PPers I would axe it from the list. It glides over gravel and grass, but that comes at a price. It does not fold small, it's bulky, and takes up the whole trunk. It's designed for jogging/off-roading, not as a primary everyday stroller.
I'm going to buy the Uppababy G-lite umbrella stroller as my leave-in-the-car stroller once it goes on sale. Weighs 8.3 lbs, huge canopy, decent basket, folds small and stands on its own. There's a fancier version, the G-luxe, which reclines and has some other extra features.
I just ordered the Britax B-Agile stroller and the Britax B-Ready bassinet attachment. I had a $300 Amex gift card to use up, and my order total came out to $299 and change.
The reviews on the B-Agile were much better than the City Mini models.
If you end up looking for a smaller stroller when the baby is older, I love the BJ City Micro. The way it folds makes it easy to carry up and down stairs and I don't have dirty wheels bumping against me. It also doesn't stick out as far carrying it on stairs so less likely to bump others or catch on a step. I'd definitely recommend it as a light travel stroller. I love it when we go into NYC.
We have a City Mini and a BOB. I love my BOB, but only for running and for walking around our hilly, non-sidewalk neighborhood. Otherwise, we use the very light and easy to fold City Mini. We had carseat adapters for both and a bassinet for the City Mini. In fact, I even bought the bassinet because of how much Starlily's daughter seemed to enjoy being in her bassinet. Yeah, J never acted like that in it. My colicky/refluxy kid was not easy to sleep, so we never moved him to the bassinet from the carseat.
I think you need to figure out just how important facing you is because otherwise, I'd say the City Mini GT + bassinet might be a great option for you.
Pretty much this, except i dont have the bassinet. I have heard good things about the britax ones, though those weren't out yet (I think?) when I was shopping.
Yeah- a bit of an addiction. I am MM though - and most were purchased used on CL, I won one, borrowed one, etc. They all had great resale value, too - so the money spent (on the new and used ones) was not quite that much when you considered the use I got out of them + the money I made when sold.
and remember that i had a singleton before i had twins- so needed different things at different times
and, I simply was a stroller whore. Now I only own 2... a combi double ($20 CL find I got), a BJ City Mini, and I have a choo choo wagon, too.
