I smeared Monistat on my face: success!

Has anyone heard that Monistat Chafing Gel is very similar to Smashbox Photo Finish Primer? I first found out here:

I tried it and it worked really, really well. My skin is on the oily side, and I only needed to blot and touch up once in mid-afternoon. My pores also looked great. I'm considering it a win. $7 for 1.5 ounces.

Just for clarification, the chafing gel is not the same thing as the yeast infection cream.

I switched to this recently as well. I hadn't been happy with Smashbox for a while, then tried and hated Laura Mercier's primer. I'm convinced the chafing gel works even better than Photo Finish.

I have dry skin, will it still work for me? Do people with dry skin need primer? Are these stupid questions?

Please bear with me. I've been doing the same basic make up steps since I was 13. I'm trying to learn about grown up makeup.

I think whether one "needs" primer is pretty up for debate, but I know it makes my makeup look much better. I use it when I'm using liquid foundation. When I'm using powder foundation, smoothness is not as important and I skip it.

Primer just sort of smooths everything out. I'd definitely at least try it once or twice. Moisturize before you use primer.

I used to use it all the time. It's pretty good.

I'm obsessed with my $$$ primer now. I regret experimenting bc monistat is so much cheaper! But I do have to say I prefer Hourglass.

Yes. I have dry skin. It's a must for me to make my makeup last 12 hours at the office.

My routine- face wash, anti aging serum, eye cream, moisturizer, primer, foundation.

It's my favorite and I use it daily. I have dry skin and primer is a must for me, it makes my make-up so much smoother and last longer.
