Glad your mom got hold of the social worker. I can't believe nobody had already spoken to the family already. Everytime my mom was in the hospital, we had a social worker to come by and check with us about progress or rehab options, etc. I am surprised the social worker isn't already on top of this situation given the "no" money thing. Obviously this has been going on for some time and some type of insurance has been in place before, correct?
we have utilization review RNs that do all the insurance reviews and then case managers (some BSWs, MSWs, and a couple of RNs) that do all the discharge planning and anything "social work-y"
I know at the local children's hospital they have discharge planners and social workers. The social workers are doing child abuse/neglect reports, counseling, etc.
