I can't stop crying. I hate that the Mom has such guilt. God, I can't imagine living with that.
Dumb question...do you bolt your living room and dining room furniture into the wall? Or just the bedroom furniture? Our tv is already mounted on the wall.
That doesn't even look like a piece of furniture that would fall over. I never would have secured that either. Now I'm thinking of all the furniture that I should have secured, but didn't.
I'm an occasional lurker on this board. Thank you for posting this. My twins are two and it shook me up enough to rush order some furniture anchors this morning.
I couldn't get through the article but it made me remember that I actually pulled my massive bedroom hutch down on myself at that age. It just happened to fall with the doors open and I ended up sort of tucked in one of the shelves. I was trapped until my mom found me. I also pulled a TV down from a bookcase in our family room. This is an important reminder. Thanks for posting it.
I never even thought about anchoring, and I don't know anyone who has anchored stuff. I already told DH that we are anchoring ours ASAP. That is so heartbreaking, I can't even imagine being in the situation.
:-( That was so hard to read, but thanks for posting it. I have nothing secured in my house and I feel so dumb for not thinking about it. I know what I'm doing this weekend.
I just ugly cried my way through that entire thing. I am a freaking mess right now.
Count me in as one who never thought to secure a low dresser like that, but now it's on my to-do list. What a tragic nightmare for that family, and yet a powerful message for the rest of us.
