Okay, so since birth, I've been dealing with some very, very painful anal fissures on and off. Uuuuuugh. They hurt so badly, and they make going to the bathroom quite dreadful. Anyone else in the same boat?
I have ginormous hemis now - but I have had fissures in the past. Make sure you are taking a stool softner and you can use vasaline on your butt hole to help heal things and also encourage things to "slide" easier.

I had awful pain for the first 7 months after DD1 was born. I would put off going to the bathroom for as long as possible even though I know that makes it worse. It was horrible. This time it waasn't as bad, and I'm not sure why. I'm sorry you are dealing with it, hope it eases up for you soon.

When I was a general surgeon we would tell people to take a lot of fiber/water and colace to make stools soft. If they really are horrific and you are suffering, there is a surgery we do called a sphincterotomy, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's really bad and they don't heal by 18 months.
A nurse friend of mine called Katie refuses to call any kind of stepping apparatus a "stool". She can't get past the clinical term. It's really funny. So in her house it's a "Katie Step"
Poor Christiedee! My DH has one of these that comes and goes (sorry am I putting that out there, DH!) and I know how painful it is. Hope it sorts out soon
