Have I mentioned how much I dislike BIL lately?

He is seriously a douchecanoe to the max.

For those of you who aren't my FB friend here is a status I just posted:
"I feel like I spend way too much time in the car letting Pey sleep these days. At least sometimes I manage to sneak in a nap too. Haha. My complex neighbors probably think I'm crazy."

With removing some names here is how comments insued

BIL: Why don't you just take her inside when you get there? No one just sits in their car with the kid till they wake up

Me: Because then she would wake up. And not go back down and therefore be cranky with no nap. I don't just hop in the car to make her sleep, she just falls asleep on the way home and I'm stuck. I know plenty of people who play the sit and wait game in the car.

BIL: It's not normal to do that. And also you managing to sneak a nap in too could cause for someone to call CPS because that is not safe. What are you gonna do when there's more than one of them? Or when the weather gets hot? It's not how people parent

Friend A: Actually, many mothers sit in the car till their kids wake up, we've done it many many times with aiden and will more than likely do it with Jax as well. And I know for a fact my sister in law does it as well with her little one. It's VERY normal.

Me: Wow Will get back to me when you have your own kid. And CPS really? The car is running, the doors locked, and she's strapped it. She's not unattended and she'd wake me if she woke up.

BIL: The reason behind doing it is because you don't have to take care of the kid when she's sleeping. The world doesn't just stop when the kid is sleeping. Maybe once in a while its okay but not all the time. If you're having a hard time now just imagine how full your hands will be when more are around

Friend A: Laura, i'm getting off this post before I say something rude and offensive. You're fine, And trust me I know what this is like. Some people should probably have their own kids before trying to give out parental advice or tell someone what theyre doing wrong.

Me: I don't even understand your argument here. At all. No the world doesn't stop but when a baby sleeps. You let them sleep. And when I have more than one, if one is awake and the other is asleep I wouldn't force my awake child to sit their bored and not parent them or whatever it is you are assuming.

BIL: Sitting in the car for a long period of time could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. Especially for an infant. It's dumb parenting. And I don't have a kid of my own but my mom birthed 5 and most of this is coming from her, not me

Friend A: thats fine, she raised her kids, now let laura raise her own without judgement. Unasked for advice/criticism as a parent is one of the most obnoxious things you can do

Me: Seriously will even if some of this stuff is coming from mama why blow up a post and not personally message or call me? I you truly concerned that's a better route. But I suppose if making a scene and attracting attention is your real goal then you do the right thing.

Then a massive swarm of mamas(including a bunch of you fine ladies) swooped in to (flamefully?) admit to letting their baby sleep! The horror!!

Looks like he finally gave up.

I did call DH about half way in and he said he was going to call him and say something. But honestly this is not the first or last(I'm sure) time my BIL shits out of his mouth. I loathe the creature that is my 21 year old childless BIL who thinks he knows EVERYTHING.

It just blows my mind. All of it. But I especially didn't understand the point of bringing in the multiple kids thing in. I'll figure 2 kids out when I have two kids.

Oh and praising his mother's parenting has me laughing all the way home. Because based on his ignorant ranting, she apparently didn't do a good job. Also, how about the daughter who emaciated herself at age 12(into her grandparents' house), yes she wanted out of the family that soon. And none of my MIL's family even talks to her. Except her mother who, at 80 is far from her right mind. Fuck IL's seriously, fuck them all, hard in the ass.

Letting a baby/kid sleep is lazy parenting? So while a baby is sleeping, I should be awake making sure she is breathing? Crap I guess all the "sleep while baby sleep" phrases were alllll wrong.

Are you sleeping in the driver's seat? If I saw that, I would think something was wrong.

Yes I do doze off in the drivers seat. It's a very light and uncomfortable sleep, despite the seat being reclined. Like mentioned, the doors are locked and the car is running with some sort of airflow on. I could Maaaaybe see that being side-eyed a little, but seriously, the whole thing?

I want you to know I'm not side eyeing you but the sleeping in the car thing is probably what someone would side eye (not the staying in the car while they sleep in general).

Like I said, if I saw someone asleep in their car, I might think they were passed out and something was wrong.

Wtf? You're totally not crazy or wrong to do that. Babies NEED sleep. And sleep begets sleep. For some kids, you F that up, it's hard to get back on track, so sleep is to be cherished and protected, lol. Actually, I'm totally jealous that you (and so many others) can just sit in the car and let them sleep. Mine wakes up the minute I pull in the driveway, no lie. When I visit my Dad, she wakes up the minute we get off the highway.

This is one of the reasons I am so thankful I only silently judged parenting before I was actually a parent. My sister worked around her kids sleep schedules when they were little, as in trying to get home before nap time. I always side eyed this in my mind, like what is the big deal if the kid misses a nap? Now I realize that naps a very important, and I would certainly hang out in my car on occasion. Your BIL is going to eat his words so many times.

Some people just don't get it. I had a childless friend tell me to leave DS (prior to DD's birth) in the car in the driveway while he slept. She told me to go in the house and watch him from the window.....

That is side-eye worthy. I admit we spent time in the car when DS was napping. DH and I had some great conversations. I would also call friends in there (pre cellphone days and my cordless had a signal) while he slept.
