for the weekend challenge one of my spots was the car. I've honestly just been using it a dumping ground for a while for things that need to leave the house.
BEFORE:
I dropped off a bunch of stuff @ PO, Goodwill, and sorted the rest that needs to go to my office and to a couple other places.
I vacuumed and cleaned the whole car, not just the back. Yay!
Bunny, you're out of your maternity clothes already?!? That is amazing!
I saved 2 pairs of maternity jeans with the low band in the front and I'll wear yoga pants and leggings for a while. I'm just wearing my looser tops.
I HATE maternity clothes and couldn't wait to get rid of them. With DD1 I was back to my pp weight pretty quickly so I'm hoping it happens this time too.
Bunny- I am SO looking forward to doing the same thing with my clothes after this kid is here!
No pics, but so far this weekend, we've painted the baby's room (record time for us, about 2 hours from starting prep to taking the tape off for a ~15'x15' room, though there's still some touch ups to do), and gotten part way through putting up shelves in the office.
Other than the shelves, not much more D&R this weekend, just some general cleaning, and DH is brewing this afternoon.
I finished up the scrapbook from our Alaskan cruise from this August. I'm happy to have it done as I'm still pretty behind and everyone says I'll have to pick-up at baby at this point.

Final count: I emptied 8 plastic bins!!
I'm even surprised I purged that much. It feels great!
I have 4 trash bags of clothes and 1 of toys to donate. I threw away 2 trash bags of clothes and 2 of broken or dirty toys. And I'm sending 2 boxes of maternity clothes to other people.
(I'm tempted to go thru all of DDs old clothes but decided to hold off.)

I didn't take any pictures but I finally vacuumed up all the dust from my little bathroom. I found the only piece of glass left on the floor from either Monkey or the cat knocking a nail polish bottle onto the floor and cut the top of my foot (brushing it off the bottom of the other lol). I did unpack the last box of bathroom stuff and did 2 loads of laundry today. I need to get to work getting more unpacked but I did a lot of shopping yesterday (for clothes) and I'm exhausted.

No pics b/c their just cabinets, but I ended up cleaning out 3 when my goal was only 2 I also took 3 trashbags to Goodwill on Friday, but that was left over from last weekend's challenge.
I think the next challenge should be cleaning linen closets and getting rid of old bed linens and towels. God knows I need to do that.
I didn't take photos, but DH and I cleaned out and organized the four big bins that we have with power tools and related items, and made some headway on clearing out/cleaning that part of the garage. He had the bins so messed up that it was a wonder that he ever found any power tools to work on projects.
I am still trying to convince him that we are never going to have need for 6 or seven staple guns at the same time, (we have manual, electric and pneumatic), and could get rid of a few of them. We probably will never need to buy sandpaper again for the rest of our lives, and there are still some tools inside that need to make it out there, but at least the bins make some sense now. It is the only job that we sort of conquered...the rest was random stuff in the garage and the house and I didn't really tame any one area other than the bins in that little corner of the garage.
It looks better though. Our trash and recycling bins are full, and we started a pretty good donate pile on the porch. It was kind of fun to see some progress. We still have so much more to do, but I am feeling more motivated now.
no photos, but DH did a major purge and reorg of his side of the closet, which inspired me to do a quick purge. i do the purge more often, since i'm not allowed to buy more hangers. so, if i buy something, something else has to go. anyway, we have at least 2 boxes for AMVETS to pick up.
next weekend i am planning on bathroom vanities cleanout, kitchen sink cabinet.
I didn't take any pics! But we cleaned for hours, got the upstairs ready for guests, all surfaces in the master cleaned off and dusted, did some furniture swapping in the rooms, etc. Today I'm making curtain rods because shockingly, the 3 dollar rod from Walmart is super warped and my curtains look like a wave
We worked hard on the master bedroom and bath again this weekend. The little bit of tile was epoxy grouted so now all of the tile work is officially done! I finished the ceiling and all of the walls in the master bedroom. I did drywall sanding, primed, then primed again with texture added, and picked out the paint colors. Tonight I'm going to touch up the last bit of wall texture in the corners and paint the ceiling. Maybe start painting the walls if everything dries in time.

I forgot to take before photos but I moved around some dressers so now I have so much more space in my bedroom and the spare room. I went out and bought two cool chairs for those nice new spaces and I love them!

Here's what else I did:
Fabric is out and sorted! Top, left to right: quilting pattern fabric, quilt batting & special fabric (minky, terry cloth, etc); center has more quilting patterned fabric and then all the solid colors. The bottom has all my bigger patterns that I use for things other than appliques separated out into a boy bin, a neutral & holiday bin and then a girl bin.
Alright a pic! I did 2 8ft curtain rods for 15 bucks. The curtains are lousy, they were free though so I'm keeping them until a, I have money for fabric and b, my sewing machine works/ is replaced.
I used light bulbs for finials, so yay 4 for 4 bucks
Ok here are my small projects from the past two weekends.
This weekend I cleaned out our small media "cabinet" and also our entryway table.
In our media "cabinet" we keep random stuff like cables, batteries, extra stuff for the Wii, and some playing cards, poker chips, etc. Our DVDs and CDs are actually stored nearby.
Media Cabinet Before:
Media Cabinet After:
And the best "after" of this project: extra space!! I did go back and put a pair of hand weights in one drawer since I work out in that area but I still have one extra drawer!
Entry Table Drawer Before and After:
Pile of junk I'm getting rid of/donating from this weekend:
Last weekend I reorganized a couple kitchen cabinets. They weren't in bad shape but definitely needed some tweaking. I apologize in advance for the bad angles and photo quality!
Cabinet 1 Before and After:
In this cabinet I first moved around some cookbooks. Infrequently used ones are on the top shelf and more frequently used ones are on the middle shelf. I already stored my plastic storage bags and foil in this cabinet but I amped it up to create a lunch preparation area that has napkins, plastic and paper bags, foil, waxed paper and parchment paper. This is right by the refrigerator where I make lunch for myself and DH so it's really convenient. On the middle shelf I brought in some of my baking supplies that used to be in the pantry and created a little baking corner. It's not my main prep space but at least now I can just grab the containers. I have dry ingredients like chocolate and brown sugar in one container and wet ingredients like flavored extracts in another container. Finally there's a breakfast prep area that was already there, I just moved it to another shelf straightened it up a little. There I keep cereal, granola, oatmeal, cream of wheat, and grits (hey it's the South!). I have cork squares hung in the inside of these cabinets where I pin recipes I want to try. I neatened that area up some too.
Cabinet 2 Before and After:
Here I got rid of a few extra mismatched glasses we weren't using, moved those large bulk food items to another cabinet, and also created a coffee and tea area with our regular coffee, bagged and loose teas, sugar and honey. We prepare both coffee and tea using the kettle so moving those items to this cabinet made much more sense because this cabinet is right by the stove. I also moved our coffee grinder and Teavana tea maker to this cabinet. My bamboo tea box is back there as well but you can't see it in the photo.
So those are my two little projects as of late. I really want to get the insides of the kitchen cabinets painted this Spring. I don't mind the wood but I'd prefer it white to give things a cleaner and more up to date look. Oh, our house was built in the 50's so I wouldn't be painting over some beautiful wood with character like the chick over at Making it Lovely did.
We tore out our carpet in our whole apartment a few weeks ago. This weekend, we laid the wood laminate in the living room, kitchen & hallway. I love it!!!
Ignore the silly dog... haha
Much better than the yucky carpet that was in before....
No photos, but we got the desk organized. I continued work in the basement and gave away a ton of baby stuff to DHs coworker and wife who are expecting.
