Apparently today is daycare provider appreciation day. Have any of you with kids in daycare done anything? I need a last minute idea that doesn't stink. Or maybe I just need to be convinced that a simple thank you will suffice.

I teach elementary, but a good quick gift is a gift card to starbucks, dunkin donuts or chick-fil-a. It's nice to be able to get coffee/breakfast on the way to school at the ass-crack of dawn.

I know, I didn't know it even existing until today, so now I feel obligated. Don't get me wrong, I love our providers, but something feels off about giving them something on a dedicated day. Why can't I appreciate them when I feel like it?
Hooboy it was teacher appreciation WEEK in the good old a73 house
Let me tell you how broke my ass is after
Monday: kids made cards. Ok, that was cheap at least Tuesday: we brought fruit, yogurt for teacher appreciation breakfast potluck Wednesday: tulips for miss Amanda and calla lilies (seriously? You are 22 at best!) for miss Ashley, who thinks she's 59 Thursday: tons! of packages of markers for Adams class Friday: 25 tarzhay gift cards for both teachers.
Ohhhh we toured a daycare today they had flowers delivered and all kinds of stuff. It all makes sense now. I was like "I hope I dont have to bring gifts every week if we pick this one"

Wow, that's way more involved than anything that goes down at my school. Our PTA provides breakfast on Monday, and then I usually get something from a few of the kids (a candle, bottle of lotion, $10 gc to starbucks, etc). Are you at private school? That sounds swanky.

Would it be a cop out if I asked if there are any supplies they are in need of and then pick them up over the weekend? I don't know that they do coffee/fast food and I know that they already have flowers. Maybe I'm strange but I never liked having multiple flower arrangements at the same time. I want to appreciate them individually and let them linger as long as I can! More than one set of flowers makes me anxious.
Angelaa- good to know I found out about the week on the last day. Now I feel sad, probably like your wallet does- yikes! You've had a busy week.

I did nothing, Jackson hasn't had a permanent teacher in his room since January. At his daycare it was all week long and the owners did something different for the teachers each day so that was good enough for me!
I found out today he is moving up in exactly one month, thank god!
I like to think of the equivalent of a car payment I shell out each week and bonuses at the holidays as appreciation, though we did write them thank you notes.
My H says he thinks it's some kind of weird passive aggressive timing that this happens right before mother's day - like "honor us, since we're the proxy mothers for your children while you cold bitches go make a living."
