And all this Mexican talk makes me want to suggest Mexican (or Indian???) for the next GTG. DH hates both, and I miss them
I would be in for this! My H hates Mexican food, too
Me too! I'm 14 weeks pregnant and I've nicknamed this kid Hector because all I wanted for a long time was Mexican. DH hates Mexican, so it meant a lot of take out lunches!
What do you like to do in your free time? Hang w/ friends, Read, catch up on the Real Housewives, also dying to try yoga and indoor rock climbing
Whereabouts do you live? Dorchester (not the part you see on the news, lol!)
What board(s) are you usually on? S&B and MM. The devil and angel on my shoulder.
Current favorite splurge restaurant in the area.. Mistral
Current favorite budget/everyday restaurant in the area. I have 4 young kids- Red Robin or The Outback!
Will you attend the next GTG on Saturday 2/16 (I don't think we've decided on a location yet). Possibly- I have never done a GTG, but if I can make it I will!
Welcome, lizlemon! I remember a poster who lived in Gardner but can't remember your old screen name to save my life. Please share or it will keep bugging me!
I actually haven't been to No. 9 so I can't fairly compare, although I have heard Menton's food is better. I love Sportello for something a bit more casual though.
I don't know why it's taken me so long to post over here. I check in occasionally though, and I think the board looks a bit more active lately than it has at times in the past. Good to see!
Current favorite splurge restaurant in the area (you'll find we like to talk food a lot here . Menton. Big splurge.
We went there as our Christmas gift to each other, and it was so, so delicious! I can't wait to go back, though I think we're going to try No 9 Park for my husband's birthday dinner.
I thought Menton was totally overrated. I've been to a lot of really great places and it's nowhere even close. This may be totally unpopular, but the better dining choices in Boston are seriously lacking.
I find it difficult to give a fair appraisal of tasting menus because a. they change all the time, and b. I'm a vegetarian so I'm rarely eating the items that would be more judged from restaurant to restaurant. My meal and wine were excellent and I enjoyed that the presentation wasn't over-the-top (a la Alinea). Boston's restaurant scene is seriously lacking, I totally agree.

I am also a Southern NH resident and novice sewer.
If you were referring to Mr. Mac's, as hulley mentioned, I also like that place(and Firefly, which I think I mentioned in my reply in this thread, too).

DH is a vegetarian (pescatarian) and we enjoy going out to tasting menus. Just mention that you are vegetarian when you book your reservation. The Chefs seem to enjoy the challenge. Most places (other than a steakhouse) will happily work with you. We have enjoyed tasting menus at Craigie on Main, L'espalier, and Oleana. Each tried to cater to our needs (I have a bunch of allergies). We also have had great vegetarian meals at Elephant Walk, Diva, Dali, East Coast Grill (limited options for vegetarian), Bergamot, Tu Y Yo, Gran Gusto and Jose's. These are in Cambridge-Somerville area.

Yes! We've only gone a couple times, but there are so many more I want to try.
I'm novice enough I have yet to complete a project. I have 2 in progress and one is clothes for the kids for a Valentine play date next week so I should probably step it up
Welcome, wildcatprincess! I'm curious about the April 2012 board. Is it really all April 2012 moms? Why is that board so much more active than any other birth-month board?
As far as I know it is, or at least people who were at some point due in April. I sometimes forget my son is a March baby because of the time I spend on that board lol. I have no idea what made it gel so well but it has always been pretty active. We kept getting trolled on on TB because of it so most people came over here.

To lurkers worried about meeting strangers, Fuds (lol) and I got into the car of a total stranger (Hulley) and we both still have our kidneys. If my under 25, single, unemployed ass can fit in at a GTG, anyone can. (kiss)
