Very strange. crackhabit, it makes me think you dad treated you like the family pet.
My mother did some of the stuff mentioned in here. No drinking or could have only one small glass of milk at dinner, only being allowed to ride my bike down the block and back, calling when I got/left somewhere.
I think the weirdest thing about my childhood was that we had no privacy until I was like 13. I was not allowed to shut the door completely while in the bathroom or my bedroom. GOD FORBID I lock a door! Even after 13. My mother was always afraid something bad would happen and she'd have to knock down the door.
This thread is making me so glad I didn't have neurotic parents. OMG. I do remember having friends with a lot of these rules, like the off-limits formal living room, or not being allowed to open a new package of food without permission (that one struck me as really dysfunctional). But I've never heard of rules limiting the amount of water a kid could drink.
