Baby is still breeched - I can't say I'm surprised the movement is where it's been all along. Due to the amount and size of the fibroids in my uterus, OB doesn't think it's wise to attempt versioning. He gave me the list of the doctors who are on surgical duty the week of February 18th, so now I just need to choose which day (i.e. which doctor) my little man will make his debut.
How are you feeling about it? I know I was super bummed out when I found out but got used to the idea and in retrospect it wasn't the worst thing ever. There is one thing to be said for a scheduled c section. The recovery will be much easier than if you labor first. I mean, I can only speak for my experience of course but at least you go into surgery rested and freshly showered. Let me know if you have any questions, I've def been there. Team breech! Lol. Very exciting that your time is almost here!!
This may be a stupid question, suppose you go into labor before your scheduled date, would they just send you right over for a c section?
BTW- 2/20 is my anniversary. I vote for that day for Shane's arrival.
For me, yes they would have done a c section pretty much right away if I had gone into labor earlier than the time I was scheduled. Unless of course the baby had turned. My Dr did last check sonogram before they prepped me for surgery just in case, even though I knew I hadn't felt any major movement. Eta I know you weren't asking me but I'm sitting here waiting for my hair to dry and couldn't help chiming in

Yeah, they would.
Heather, you could try www.spinningbabies.com if you want to try to get him to flip. Did the docs say if the fibroids would make a vaginal delivery more difficult?

Oh god, yes, a shower. As an unplanned c-section mama, I would have named the baby after anyone who could have gotten me a shower after all that laboring before the surgery. When I finally did get to shower afterwards, it was practically orgasmic.
That's nice they have a c-section class! That's probably really helpful. My doula was good about talking me through what to expect with a c-section beforehand, just in case, and that helped me tremendously in the moment.
So excited for you, aegis! It's getting so close!!!!
Sara76 - Part of me has always thought a c section was a real possibility, and while I'm kind of disappointed, I was expecting the OB was going to tell me to schedule on. The actual procedure itself doesn't bother/scare me, but I'm terrified of the recovery period.
Jen812 - if I do go into labor they will do a sonogram. If he's still breeched they'll send me in for an emergency c section. If he's flipped then they'll let me labor. I'll keep your anniversary in mind
mrsjenrn - there's always been some concern about the fibroids and a vaginal delivery. Honestly, I thought a c section may be a possibility early on because of them. Most of them have moved above baby, but there's a 4cm in the lower part of my uterus.
My advice for the recovery period is just to not try to be a hero. Don't be afraid to ask for meds. I had to really keep on my nurses about the pain meds - if I could take something every 4 hours, I would be buzzing at 3.5 hours asking for my next dose. Don't wait till it actually hurts to ask!
Also, when you're getting up out of bed at first, it really helped me to hold my breath as I moved and stood up. And when you're sitting, holding a pillow over your abdomen really helps if you have to cough or laugh.
Stay away from food that makes you gassy. OMG. Any gas pain I had was worse than the incision pain. I chewed on those simethicone tablets for a couple weeks after my surgery.
