I think I covered all our local regions, but it's possible I missed one or listed one twice. (It's been a long morning already). If you feel you DON'T fit in anywhere, feel free to post your region below.
I like that california gets to be two regions all on it's own, but everybody else has to share. ;-p
LOL. I actually struggled with that one as I typed it. I swear it's not favoritism, though - I would have separated it out prior to living here too. Its a big state with VERY different regional areas. And those regional areas don't really fit in with any other region. I mean ... SoCal is VERY different from the southwest. And NorCal isn't the same as the Pacific Northwest. But yeah.
ALSO, in the interest of full disclosure, I realize that Canada is also decidedly regional, but I don't (honestly) know enough about the different regions to name them without sounding like I'm quoting wikipedia. I'm also not entirely sure how many canadians we have ... at least two, but possibly 5 or 6? So Canadians, if you want to post your region, that would be good too. My apologies to you for my obligatory american cluelessness.
I do realize upon re-reading that I've missed Alaska and Hawaii. Do we have any non-continental H&Gers?
Hahahaha. And derp. It was supposed to be mid-atlantic (which is already listed) but apparently I only half typed it, gave up, moved on, and then didn't notice on re-read that it was there. Just ignore that one.
Is OH Great Lakes or Midwest? Really, I'm asking for real. I'm new to OH, and always considered it Midwest until I moved here and realized how different it is from MN, which is also considered Midwest. maybe OH is really Great LAkes?

Ohio is Great Lakes. At least most of it is. Some of it is a little more southeastern, some is a little more midwest (if you live WEST of Dayton, I'd probably go with Midwest)
I think of North Carolina as being part of the South East. VA/MD/DC/PA/DE are what I think of as mid-atlantic. I suppose NJ too? Or is it part of New England? Really I suppose parts of VA could be considered the south east.
My head is now officially spinning. Who knew regions could be so complicated

NJ is Mid Atlantic, so is NY. CT and up is New England.
Ok, I LOVE that everyone else is having a hard time with this lol. I almost posted earlier asking for a glossary. For me, while you can distinguish midswest, great lakes and plains, they're sorta all the same. I had to look up south central, bc I've never heard of it, and that doesn't fit me, and neither does southeast, so yes indeedy, I'm an SS bc I need deep south bc it's its own cultural territory. Don't you just love when a simple poll turns into a bunch of questions?

I think Texas needs its own category, honestly. We're not really "the South", nor are we the Southwest. I suppose you could say south-central, but what does that really mean?!

Well, in my world, South-Central is Texas, Oklahoma, etc.
