I am thankful that I get to see H 49 hours! I am thankful for the friends who made this trip possible. I am thankful for the awesome support of my friends - IRL and online - while I was at the Job From Hell. I am thankful for my new job. I am thankful for the new friends I am making. I am thankful for Percocet and Flexiril.
oh.. I'd be thankful for a spiked morning latte as well
It wasn't spiked, just a latte, but zoo good after nearly two weeks without. Tonight I might have a glass of wine with dinner, but tomorrow is dinner and drinks with the girls so I might wait that.
I am thankful that DD1 did great today at Kindergarten registration and wasn't shy, but mostly that she is my daughter because she is so beautiful, smart and just such a good girl
I am thankful that DD2 and DD3 are no longer sick and (knock on wood) we're all healthy.
I am thankful for my job that has allowed me a lot of flexibity this week so that I could be there for my DDs multiple appts.

I'm thankful that my mother in law is coming to visit today. I know that sounds weird. . But she is awesome with the kids and she is practically pushing me out the door. So I have lunch with a friend and a haircut scheduled for tomorrow. I'm way more excited than I should be for a haircut.
I'm thankful our taxes are done and submitted, and very happy/surprised that we're getting such a good refund. It doesn't fix everything but we'll have a basic e-fund (!!!), finish off some smaller bills to get the snowball rolling, have some funds set aside for the family trip/drama in early May, and DH wants to save a small part for NYE at the end of this year since we'd really like to do a nice kid-free hotel party/overnight stay for one time while the grandparents are young enough to handle a sleepover. It doesn't fix everything but so glad it's helping us make some real progress.
I am thankful that today is my last day in my current job and I am moving on to my new job! Very excited.
Also, today is DH's "golden" birthday (basically it's this BS his family made up about the birthday you turn the same age as your birthday...most of us have already had it, but DH finally gets his. he's all excited). So I'm thankful for DH, golden birthday or not.

It's a surprise for your H, right? I hope someone gets a photo of his face when he sees you. What awesome friends to do this for you guys (and you guys must be great for them to want to do this for you)

I'm thankful for my uncle. Our sewer line started to backup. He came out first thing this morning, after I just called him last night, and cleared the line out in under thirty minutes. He only asked for $20, but I gave him $30. We were expecting it to be much more. This is the third time in the year we lived in this house that he has come to help us out with plumbing issues. i don't know what we would do without him.

So, if your birthday is Jan 31, then the year you turn 31 is the "golden" birthday?
I've never heard of that, but it's pretty cute.
Yep. That's the idea. Prob most fun for kids - if I had know when I was 13, I probably would have loved it.

Me neither. But I do love that Kid 1 is our golden pig.

That's adorable BS.
What are you doing for it?
I got him some really nice Tiffany's cuff links, which he wanted. Plus the Batman trilogy for a silly gift.
I want to get him an ice cream cake, since he doesn't like real cake. Hopefully I can find a grocery store that has Carvel cakes, but I don't know where in NYC has one. There used to be an actual Carvel store near our old apartment downtown, but now there's none, so I'll have to do a little searching.

i've never heard of it, either, and none of my friends that i've asked have ever heard of it either! it seems totally specific to his family, which is also fun. but it's a neat tradition.

what is a golden pig?!
Just the Chinese zodiac sign and element he was born under. It's considered extra lucky and supposedly he'll make us some money. But being Asian and having many Asian friends, we got a lot of comments about it when I was pregnant.

This is not BS! It's fun!
Adopt it! I'm sure he would love that. I already told him a few peeps here liked it, he enjoyed that.
You're right, I shouldn't call it BS, it is cute. His family is going all out for his golden bday, but it's gotten slightly out of hand. Like when your MIL calls before 8 AM...that was a wee bit too early for me.

Nice!! I've never heard of the elements as well as the zodiac, I'll have to look that up.

There is (or at least used to be) a Carvel in the East 20s. Maybe it is still open? I'd be very sad if it isn't.
But I usually end up with Lil Loves instead of real cakes because Kips Bay is far. Not the same certainly, but does the trick. My D'Ags has them.
MH came home from his trip and went into work a little later so I got some extra time with him this morning. It's payday. H is getting a nice raise that he really deserves.
