Most sets I'm finding online include a pepper grinder and a salt shaker. I would prefer a salt grinder because I use sea salt.
Can you recommend a set that will last me a while? I'd ideally like to spend $35 or less, and bonus points if I can get it through Amazon.com (but I also have easy access to Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Walmart).
So - coincidence! Today's email newsletter from America's Test Kitchen had pepper grinder recommendations. I know some people hate the ATK/Christopher Kimball enterprise, but that's all I have to offer.
The top recommendation was "Cole & Mason Derwent Gourmet Precision Pepper Mill -- When it comes to grind quality, this mill is tops. It made grind selection a snap, with clear markings corresponding to grind size, and every one of its six fixed settings performed well. Its transparent acrylic body proved easy to load and grasp."
I actually found a BB&B coupon in my email after I asked this question, so I wandered into Bed Bath & Beyond on my lunch break yesterday and got this Oxo set. They got good reviews online so hopefully they'll work fine.
I didn't take the price stickers off when I brought them home, and MH was shocked that I spent $22/each on salt and pepper shakers, lol. I told him that they were FAR from the priciest ones available!
I don't have a salt grinder, but I have a Peugot pepper grinder and love it.
Me, too. I'm glad it was a gift because I never would have spent the $60 or $70 it cost. Since getting it, though, I've used far more pepper than I ever did before which I view as a positive return on that investment.

Yup. I heard that it was awesome so put it on my Christmas list several years ago since I couldn't imagine spending that much normally. DH probably shook his head he purchased it but hasn't regretted it since then.
