DH is going to Vegas for work in March. It is the week of my bday. I could go with him for free (free flight, hotel, meals, etc.) and would only have to pay for gambling. I am debating on going. He is going Tues-Sat. If I go I would go Thurs (my bday) through Sat. I would have to leave early Thurs morning, so my sister would have to spend the night and get up with D until the nanny got here, then go to work late. Then my parents would come thurs (my mom works a double, 3pm-7am) so they would either leave when she got home and she would nap here, or she would sleep for a couple hours then they would leave and be here before the nanny is done. I've only left him overnight 1 night and it was basically from 6pm until about noon the next day. It was with my parents and everyone was fine (albeit, tired) afterwards. It was at thier house though, so I think it would be easier if they were here since D would be more comfortable. All that said, would you go?

Agreed, if your family is willing and you don't think it would be too much for them, go for it! Some birthday Vegas fun could do you wonders! And it's only a few days as opposed to leaving him for a week, so it sounds perfect, not to mention its a chance for a free trip.

Ditto everyone else, if it will work out between your family and nanny without adding too much stress for them, I would totally do it. Of course, you could probably guess I'd say that, because I'm the kind of mother that has been living in a different country than her kids for nine months so I am nothing if not supportive of the theory that a couple of days without mom and dad won't cause irreparable harm to children.
