Vent/complaint: My PCP called me last night to ask how my surgery went and how I was feeling. I told her that I had gone to the gym on Sunday and did the stationary bike (which I got the okay from the surgeon to do) and how sore my arm/boob was after. She yelled at me and told me not to work out for at least a few weeks. This does NOT make me happy in the slightest.
I'm in the middle of a grading marathon, but I'm totally procrastinating. Maybe I need some reward system, like magical candies for every 5 exams I grade.

That really sucks, Bully. Getting conflicting information like that is so frustrating.

Oh, I hate that. I'm always tempted to give dr #2, dr#1's phone number and be all, "here, you two talk and figure out who was right and then call me back with less conflicting information, mmmkay?"
I have my period and my cramps this time are awful! They have never been this bad since before I stated taking BC. Normally it would be the first day or two, this have been every freaking day! I want it to stop.

Well, I working out was a bad idea because 2 hours later I was soooo sore. I think it was just trial and error. And my PCP tends to be more cautious.

So our foster pup growls at kids. The first time it happened, I was taking him on a leashed walk after the ice storm. We saw a 10 year old sledding down the street and I hoped it could be the movement of the sled. On Sunday, the beagle rescue lady came over for a home visit and brought her 2 year old with her. Growling commenced. Do you think I can make conclusions from these two situations? He is so sweet, it was such unusual behavior. The 2 year old really wasn't doing anything at that point. Although they did come into the house (we weren't expecting them) and we hadn't got him in a crate yet.

If it seemed like your foster pup was focusing on just the two year old (as opposed to the beagle rescue lady or both of them), I'd say it's probably safer to say the pup doesn't get along with kids.
This makes me sad, because I assume the puppy must have been mistreated by a child (whether it was on purpose or just a kid not knowing any better). Poor puppy.

That's what I was thinking PS, that he has had a bad experience or experiences. And it was definitely just the kid. When he is well enough, I will probably walk him to the park near our house near the kids to see how he reacts. Obviously on a leash and not next to them, but it is something I will have to know to find him the right home. I am entirely bummed about this because everything in his personality indicates he is really a sweet, loving and calm dog.

ps, those cookies look AMAZING!!!
bully, I remember being so disappointed when I was told not to work out after my accident (it was a few years ago)... My PCP said it was ok, my PT said NO WAY! it sucked!
dl, how sad to think that such a sweet dog has had such a difficult time... I admire you for what you're doing with him!
My major grumble is that we're going through and revising/updating our job descriptions. My current position covers two and a half job descriptions as they are written right now. They want me to keep the individual job descriptions for future use and make a "Hybrid" of the 3 for my use now. The job duties section so far is 4 pages...
I opened a bottle of my favorite (cheap) red wine last night and had 2 glasses. I'm probably going to polish it off tonight.
I got to start walking on my sprained foot this past Thursday night after two weeks of no walking at all. I'm really happy about the progress I've made. I hope it continues to heal well so I can get back to work before February's over.
