Big girl mattress...

We are going to be buying Lila her big girl mattress set tonight. I know when we were shopping for crib mattresses, we were told that the firmer it was, the better. Does anyone know if that matters anymore? 

We have been looking at two different models at SAMS. This mattress feels like a board and has absolutely no padding to it (similar to crib mattresses). 


...or this one. This one looks like it would actually be comfortable to sleep on. Both are FIRM.

Does anyone know if it matters which we pick?
