I loved my Moby when Amelia was small too. The first day that I got her all snug in there and she fell asleep was one of the most wonderful days of early motherhood. I'm loving my Ergo right now whille out running errands but if you can get comfortable with the Moby it is so great for the sleepy nursing days that are spent mainly indoors. It takes a couple tries and then it's actually pretty easy to do. I'm working on a woven right now and learning different back carries with it, but if I had a tiny one still I'd still be using the Moby, probably until 10-15 pounds even though it says it can be worn longer.
Just now I made banana bread and Amelia wanted to watch every step so I kept picking her up to show her and she was in awe. I neeeeeeed a ring sling. She loves to be on my hip, she's so curious. This is so much easier than the sleepy stages in the beginning but some form of wearing them is awesome for you both.

I think this is the best part of BWing...they get to see things from your point of view and you get to see things from their point of view. They learn to switch light switches on and off, eventually, you can let them push the buttons for the laundry. So cool. I lurve it.
I liked my Moby for the first few weeks. I have one if you'd like to borrow before you buy (actually, I have two...you prefer black or olive?)
I use a ring sling primarily, but I am borrowing a woven from the babywearing group I belong to. PERFECT for wearing my toddler on my back!
Seriously, if you want to borrow the Moby, it's yours. I can drop it off today or tomorrow with a short tutorial on how to wrap!
I'd love to borrow a Moby to see if it works for us. He loves to be held all the time, and I feel bad as I watch my husband try to wrangle both dogs. I feel like I could help out with the "easier" dog if I had my hands free

Sure; I remembered that I am going to a BWing meeting tomorrow at the Land O' Lakes library. Do you want to come? Carolyn and Sara are in the group, too (but IDK if they are coming tomorrow.) I can hand off the Moby there, and if you want to try any other carriers, you can do it there. If not, PM me your address on FB and I can swing by your house. Let me know what works best for you.
I'm loving the Ergo. Had a Moby with Lily, but I'm a simpleton and it was complicated. Lily wasn't really a fan anyway, but Brendan is very happy in the Ergo.
Hey Amellis, is etsy a good place to get a ring sling? I'm thinking I want one. I have Q's Peanut Shell and I just got a Beco Butterfly 2, but I think a ring sling would be good to have on hand too. Anyway, I was looking on Etsy since they are cheaper there and have some fun materials. Let me know what you think.
I haven't bought one from etsy, buy as long as the material is supportive and breathable and the rings are from slingrings.com, I don't see any problems with it. I bought ours off of Craigslist from a Tampa Bay Derby Darlin'. If you have the time, they aren't difficult to make yourself using a youtube tutorial. The rings are very cheap and then you can customize your material, too. One tutorial I saw even mentioned that you don't have to sew, you can use "stitch witchery" or something like that.

I would start with a Moby for a newborn. If you like wrapping, consider a woven wrap for one your baby grows a bit bigger. If you don't like wrapping, consider a SSC like an Ergo, Beco, Tula, etc. You don't have to have the newborn insert. You can roll a receiving blanket under their bum.
