I actually get irritated at neighborhoods with themed street names. My dad lives in a subdivision and they're all "forest" names. Every city has an Oak street.
There are a few counties here (haha, getting country on you) that have all their streets named after counties in the state. So there's an Anderson road in Anderson county.
I'm so curious how bird lady might feel about a neighborhood jokingly called bird land! Whippoorwill Dr, eagle ave, mockingbird trl, goldfinch trl, etc? =D It's not really a planned neighborhood, but it kind of has its own pocket. There are a few streets that may not have bird names. I know it has another real name for the area, but someone told me they call it bird land!
We used to live in an area with bird named streets. Everyone would refer to a certain area as 'the bird tract', but the bird street names reached far beyond that one little area.
My kids got a good education on birds. We finally bought a couple of books because they were always wondering what the bird named on the street signs looked like.

Our old house was on a street name that was hard to pronounce (very Scottish) and there was a street 6 blocks down with the same first two letters (ALSO Scottish) and we would occasionally get the mail for the same house number down there. It was a little grating.
We have a subdivision referred to as 'The Cigarette Sub' because all of the streets are named after cigarette brands. I have no idea why but if I really loved the house I wouldn't let the street name deter me.
I agree with PP that mentioned the themed neighborhoods as being particularly bad. Nearby my high school there was one that was Wizard of Oz themed, and my friend hated telling people that she lived on Wizard Way. Of course there was a Yellow Brick Rd. Seriously the most ridiculous neighborhood planning!

There are a ton of Spanish named streets here that I can't pronounce for the life of me. not to mention they are confusing and long (camino vs caminito something something). I ruled out anything I couldn't pronounce.
Our last neighborhood was military themed. The subdivision was called Westpoint and the streets had names like Squad, Munitions, Carbine, Four Star, Cadet, Leader.
Vegas was the worst place for us to look. Wholesome Terrace intersects with Impassioned Court. Black Jack Way, High Wager Ln, Fast Payout Ct. Glitter Rock, Gold Nugget Dr, Copper Bracelet Ave.

OMG. I am pretty sure that would never fly here, but could you imagine giving your address as "123 Yellow Brick Road, some random city, Kansas" while you're out of state and having someone make a Toto joke? (Because really, that stuff NEVER GETS OLD when you're from Kansas.)
mintchocochip, that is hilarious! Benedick. LOL. I'm going to chuckle about that all night.
I've lived in two different cities on a street that was part of a tree theme (Maple, Chesnut, Walnut, etc.). The Ivy League themes always amuse me. Harvard Way, Yale Avenue, Cornell Lane.
As for hard-to-pronounce names, I live in an area chock full of Welsh town and street names. Everything has multiple Ls. Ds, and Ys. It took me ages to learn to spell my daughter's school name.
I think it matters, but not a ton. Some friends want to move into another section of our neighborhood but the only open lots are on Capital Spending and they hate it so they are waiting for another release (and have been for a year).
This HAS to be Fishers. Or Carmel. But probably Fishers.
Close, but neither. Apparently it's the name of a famous horse (they are all horse names in this part of yuppie ville).
wow, my eyes have been opened to the truly terrible and ridiculous street names that are out there. I've mostly lived on nice named streets, but I don't like our current street name. It's not that bad, but one letter is featured in the street, our last name and our town and makes for kind of a silly tongue twister.
Locally some of the older street names are more random. Like Chickenfoot Road, Burnt House Hill Road, Sheep Pen Road and the county's two Street Roads.
My subdivision has flower themed singles and trees for the townhouses. The crossstreet is Columbine Circle. And the local kiddos got to Newtown Elementary. I wish I was kidding.
There's a group of streets in a local neighborhood with the following street names: Orphan Boy Court, Handyboy Court, Highboy Court, Ataboy Court and Gay Boy Court. I don't know if they'd stop me from moving to a house I'd love there but it would bother me.
ETA: Me and my 6th grade sense of humor... the graphic of Gay Boy Court makes me giggle!!!
Years ago when looking for a house, my husband and I would drive by a particular block and laugh because the name rhymed with two nicknames of female body parts. Who, I thought, would live there?? Needless to say, 14 years later I still cringe when giving out my address!

LOL at Benedick. I once went my parent's yacht club (it's not yuppie at all- more like a dive, lol) and "Eggs Benedick" was on the specials menu. I passed on the penis eggs.
I live in a neighborhood where the street names are all old people names: Vernon, Doris, Clyde, Ramona, Lionel, etc.

Oh. My. God. Ataboy Court?! AYFKM right now with that?! That's awful AND hilarious.
It would take a really bad name. Some of the ones listed would do it! Booty St? Gay Boy Lane? WTF.
I'm more concerned about streets that aren't pronounceable. I lived on Beau Bien Blvd., and I would never live on a street with a non-mainstream French name again. I'm amazed that I got my mail. I had things sent to Boo Bone, Blue Bean, etc.

Is there a reason you have never shared this with me? Hmmmmm??
lolol. There are lots of old people in my neighborhood too, but only one old couple on my street. They are awesome though. Mr. neighbor is a business owner (so he's a giver, not a taker lol) and when my H was working 1.5 hours away he would cut our lawn for us so we could have more family time. I wish more olds were like them.
Heehee.. statlerwaldorf said boner. (Sorry, I'm like 12.)
I giggle to myself every time I drive by. I was very disappointed to learn that Beaver Run Road and Boner Street don't intersect. What I would give to live on the corner of Boner and Beaver. Lol.
A friend of mine lived on a court after college (doesn't live there anymore so I have no prob. giving out the name).....
The name was Clit Court.
I sh!t you not. Google map it. I think its the only Clit Ct. out there. Albany, NY. When she first told me her address I was all , lmao.
That's probably the only street name I would flat out refuse to buy a house on. I would never be able to tell anyone my address with a straight face. I'd start giggling like a 12 year old girl every time. lol. Or blushing. Or both.
I guess I wouldn't mind living on a street with a stupid name. But I draw the line at vulgar (clutching my pearls!!!!!!) lol
I don't think we looked at any houses on a weirdly named street. We looked on a house at the corner of Sunnybrae Blvd, but the house was facing the other street, the name of which is failing me. I am sure that gets a lot of misspellings on addressed items.
All the new streets in our town are the last names of veterans, same as in my hometown (about an hour away), so there are no cutesy names any more. There is a Seaman Ct around the corner from my parents' house, which makes me laugh now. And my cousin's DH laughed hysterically when they were writing out their wedding invitations b/c we have family members on Feltus St. He was like a 14 year old boy with his "herrr herr Felt-us!". I had never thought about it before.
I work on Tulane St, and we get a TON of mail made out to "Two Lane Street". I've resorted to saying "Tulane, like the university in New Orleans" but a lot of people don't get it even then.
