If any of you are looking for classes on the NW side of town, there are baby/kid classes offered at the Childrens Resource Center on Waters Avenue at the intersection of Hanley. I went there this morning to register for a music class that they offer on Mondays. It's for children infant up to age 5. The classes are free. I am also planning to go to a Baby & Me class, also free.
Go to www.babybungalow.org and you can view the calendar of events. It shows where each class is held as they offer them at manylocations throughout the county. On the program listings, you can view more information about the classes.
Looks like they have a variety of classes for different age groups. Figure I might as well check them out especially since it doesn't cost anything other than my time and gas.
Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! I just called and spoke with someone who was super nice and I'm going to register Amelia for Growing Together. It sounds like a great program. I want to make sure her transition to preschool goes smoothly so this sounds like good preparation for both of us! And free, hello!!!
I'm waiting for my babysitter and Amelia is asleep right now but if I have a chance between babysitter getting here and time to go to work I'll stop by and register for the music class too. Which time are you doing Kara?

I put down the 11:15 class. Sometimes Ethan's morning nap runs until 9 or 9:30, so 10am might be hard for us. So I just told them the 11:15. I already do a class on Mondays, but am willing to give it up for 5 weeks to try this music class. They said if they have more than 12 people sign up for the class, they will do a lottery. So we could end up not getting in it, although it sounded like they don't normally have more than 12 people interested in each class.
Cool. I would do 11 too probably. I don't think in going to have a chance to register today and she said it has to be today. Keep me posted on how you like it though. Did the center seem nice? The lady on the phone in south Tampa said it us a nice center but I know in this area it can be hit or miss. It's very Hispanic which isn't a bad thing except for I don't speak Spanish and when we play at the park up the road all the moms are speaking Spanish and I'm the gringo . But I'm absolutely going to try out Growing Together. Registration is April 10th.

Ugh. I really dislike how all these are morning activities. I wish more places took working moms into consideration. I hate having to put all the activities on DH
People were very friendly and helpful at the facility. The one in South Tampa is great too. I will say that I might have been the only person there yesterday who didn't speak Spanish, with the exception of the Asian woman who was also signing up for the music class. I didn't realize yesterday was the only day to register. It starts next week and is a 5 week class. I will let you know how it goes. I'm curious because the age is infant to 5. Seems like a large age range. I'm all about checking out free and/or inexpensive things. I really like the Monday class I already go to, but it's in Hyde Park which is a bit of a drive. Since this one is closer to home, we will give it a try. Sorry you couldn't register yesterday. However find out when registration is for the next music class and hopefully you can make it then.
