Believe me. I have a lot of crocheted items from my mom. With lots of thin holes and some with no holes and some with large holes. The yarn used makes it warm, believe me

I have one in this same style. My great grandmother made it, my mother wore it, and I do to. I agree with PP there is something about crochet. It just holds in the right amount if heat.
