nicanmatt I'm glad you had a good time! Any advice on what not to miss/what to miss? We're going to go from Seattle to Portland and then cut over to the PCH and take that down to San Francisco.
I did San Diego to San Francisco when I was in college and it was so much fun. We didn't see much of San Francisco so I'm excited to go back.
Yikes! I just looked for the pictures from that trip... By a few years ago, I guess I meant 9! WTF.
Mt. Rainier was awesome. I remember lots of great parks, trails and such in Oregon. We really enjoyed our time there. Of course I can't remember any of the park names or my favorite lodges/hotels. Redwood Forest in CA is must-see. I was very excited to drive through the tree my family drove through when I was a kid.
San Fran-I love Sausalito! DH proposed to me at The Inn Above Tide.
Sorry I am not more helpful. I highly recommend pulling over to as many scenic overlooks as possible to explore. We did a lot of that and saw amazing aquatic wildlife and beautiful plants and beaches.
I sure hope we can do something else before then, even if it's just a road trip somewhere, but that's where the majority of our travel savings will be going for the next...ugh, 3 years.

We just got back from a week in the mountains. We had a suite right on the river. It was glorious. It was our first family vacation that didn't involve visiting family ever. We are talking about 3 or 4 days in Santa Fe in September,
Disney World in late September/early October for my son's 5th birthday. We are getting a two bedroom DVC suite on property with my dad and step mom. I am super pumped.
Two months from today we will be on a place to Disney World! Me, DH and my two DD's (5 and 1). We will stay at one of their resorts, have a 5 day pass, and will cram as much magical goodness as we can into one week. It is a suprise for my 5 year old, she has no idea. I have high hopes that my video of me telling her the day we leave will go viral and I will end up on the Today show (so that will be another vacation to NY!). I'm obviously kidding, but I cannot wait to tell her!
Heading to Curacao and Bonaire on Thursday. I'm hitting a milestone birthday (I'm gonna be an old lady), and I decided I want to be on a beach drinking & snorkeling (not at the same time!) when it happens.
We just booked it! California in June. We're stopping at the Grand Canyon for two days and Las Vegas for two days before staying a week in SoCal for a week to visit my sister. We have a wine tour scheduled but that's it. My favorite sister lives in California and we go see her every year. It takes up all of H's vacation but our families CLICK so well. My H and BIL are like BFF's, all of our kids are awesome and everyone just has one big fun time so we never do real vacations, lol.
Me and my sister have talked about taking the families to Ireland one year. She's never traveled outside of the US and I've never been. Ireland is her dream trip so we really want to do that at some point.
We're back and forth about going to the Grand Canyon in July. We planned it before we bought our house, but H still wants to go because he'll be able to pay for all the hotel rooms on the trip with points, so it'll be just food and gas. I guess we'll see as we get closer.

Nothing planned right now, though if I'm not pregnant this month then we're going on some kind of vacation this summer. (H bought an extra two weeks of vacation that he'll lose if we don't use them.) We were talking about Scotland, but flights are astronomical, so I'm not sure. H has never been to Europe so I would love to go there with him. Otherwise maybe a driving trip through California.

Today's my first day back from a week skiing in Vermont with the family.
In June, I'm going (alone) to Oregon for a week-long, intensive adaptive ski training seminar, but since it is 5 or 6 days of skiing, and that's my passion, I'm counting that as a vacation, too.
Then in November, we're taking the boys to Disney for a week, and will likely be joined by my in-laws.
Since my husband is required to take two weeks off consecutively (and the boys only have one week off from school), right after or before the Disney trip he and I will make a quick trip by ourselves while my parents stay with the boys. We are considering Paris or Iceland. I think Iceland will win, since we can do that in fewer days, and it will be the first time we've left them completely alone without one of us around for more than a night.

We did Curaçao last year! It was so great, I love the small island feel, and everyone was so nice. Have fun!
We just got back from punta cana march 10, we stayed at the paradisus and loved it there though it was colder than I would have preferred.
I have a girls trip to Anna Maria island at the end of April. Me and five of favorite people in the world.
Then at the end if August me, DH, and little midget have a condo booked in destin. We have a few other friends that might no booking that week.
There is also talk of Hampton beach, nh for the fourth with DH, addy, and my parents since none of my family up there has met my kid or husband and this is the last year my aunt will have her hotel since she is selling. I love Fourth of July up there and it has been years.
I have a plane ticket to go to London in May to visit my best friend and her soon-to-be-born baby, but I found out today that I'll likely have a trial then so there goes that plan
So next trip will be Hawaii in June for a friend's wedding

Oh no! After all that drama, you have to cancel?
Hahaha -- reschedule probably, rather than cancel, but yup!
When I reschedule though, I'm not inviting my husband or my sister, so the drama wasn't for nothing
i am going to the beach FOR A WEEK. in may. i'm about ready to die from excitement. we're renting a little house, just the 3 of us.
Can you share more detail about this? As in, I'm not trying to stalk you, but this is exactly the type of vacation I've been trying to plan and I just CAN NOT pull the trigger on Hawaii and the million dollars it's going to cost.
We are going with MIL and SIL on a cruise to Alaska in September. I'm not wild about the idea of a cruise but I think it will be fun.
Eta: We're doing the 7 day cruise from Seattle on the Princess Golden. On the slim chance anyone has cruised on that ship and has any recs please PM me! :-)
I went on a cruise to Alaska in August 2011 (not on that ship though) and it was really fun. I would see if the itinerary includes going through the Tracy Arm Fjord- it was gorgeous. Let me know if you have any questions!

Help me. In PM? General details? PLEASE.
(if you ignore this, it's a-ok, too.
Fields, I think you should look into Anna Maria island. I just found it when planning the girls trip. The beach is gorgeous, just an hour out of tampa so flights should be cheap, and the beach houses are adorable. Most have their own pools, and there are no chain restaurants on island or no big hotels, and there is a trolley that runs the length of island if you don't want to drive. It seems like a perfect place for low key beach vacation. We rented a house through vrbo.

ohhh - I'm going to email you tonight - I saw you mention Destin as well, which is another place I was looking at. I keep gravitating towards Florida, which is no difference in flight time (just the other direction) from Hawaii, but...cheaper (hopefully)
