I worked at a pizza place in high school and had similar instances occur and they always happily made the customer what they wanted to replace it. It wasn't a big deal. The profit on pizza is pretty high, so the owners always said it was worth it to make the customers happy.
There was only 1 time they refused; they offered a new topping combo- family ordered it- ate the entire thing and demanded a refund because they didn't like it, lol. They did not get the refund.
And you didn't like it. Would you call back for a new pizza? I ordered a handmade pan pizza from Domino's and I reaaally don't like it. Am I a jerk if I ask for a new pizza?
And just ftr, I like Dominos. I know a lot of ppl hate it, but I like it much more than Pizza Hut or Papa John's.
From Domino's? I eat what they show up with and I hope I'm too drunk to taste it...
I have done this at a restaurant and have offered to pay for the second meal. Like I order something, hate it, and then tell the server, "You know, I'm just not loving this because of XYZ. Could I have ____ instead? I'm not asking for it free; I will pay for it. I just don't like the original meal." Pretty much every single time (to be fair, this has only happened twice total to me and I think once to H) they offer to bring me the second meal free of charge because they want to make a happy customer who will return. Usually the head chef or manager comes out and apologizes for the first meal too, even if there was nothing inherently wrong with it. We usually insist on paying for the replacement meal but they won't charge us.
I think there is nothing wrong with telling a place of business you did not care for their product and asking for a replacement. I do think if nothing was wrong with the product and you just didn't prefer it, you should pay for the replacement, or at least offer to pay. Many times the business will replace for free because they want to keep a customer and make you happy, but I do think you should offer to pay at least.
