I'm 14 days out from ovulation and have an hCG level of 597 (I corrected this -I posted 508 but the nurse today corrected me).
Twins run in my family (there is at least one set in each generation). I had been seeing an RE but he'd only run tests, no interventions yet. No medications, or IUI, or IVF involved.
Eek :-)
ETA: I'm keeping my self centered crazy posts in here. So this thread might resurface from time to time.
I spoke with the nurse. I think she assumes my ovulation dates are off. But DH was out of town so we couldn't have conceived earlier even if the OPK were wrong. I go in for a second test Friday and have an u/s at 7 weeks.
don't think about it too much, you'll go crazy! I was just talking to another preggy friend who said her hcg levels were really high in the beginning. No twins. No molar.
Definitely don't worry about it twins run in my family, too (the hyperovulation gene does, anyway) and my hCG levels were super high both pregnancies with only one baby in there.
Good point. That is a good, non crazy explanation that I can hold onto.
(My grandma was a twin. My mother has twin cousins. There is a decent chance my mom was a twin but her twin didn't survive. I have twin cousins. The twin cousins have twins. Plus, I don't come from a huge family. Each woman has/had zero to three kids. A really high percentage of the pregnancies we do have are twins.)
(btw: thanks to dr google and being an insane person, I'm convinced it's molar. Which is stupid.)
The best thing I ever did for myself was to stop googling pregnancy stuff!!! It saved my sanity so much. The ladies here are more than helpful, the STM give sage "been there done that" advice, and I have a good relationship with my OB; I can always email her, or there's a 24 hr advice nurse line.
Just some unsolicited advice to you. I really worked myself up with all kinds of stupid by googling. First tri is tough enough with all the worry and wait, and hormones, kwim?
FWIW, I'm pregnant with twins and my first beta at 14 days post IUI was 255.3. My second beta was 627.1. You're definitely in the range for twins but a singleton isn't out of the question. Either way, wishing you a healthy pregnancy!

With DD, I had my first beta was drawn at 14dpo and was 493. Nurse said it was a little high, but hcg really varies from preganancy to pregnancy. DD was a singleton, no extra surprises in there
Congrats on a strong beta!
Edit: I had my 1st beta at 16dpo with this pregnancy and it was 485. After DD's, I was totally flipped out that it was too low! It doubled just like it was supposed to though, which was the important part.
Ugh. Today Dr. google tells me that high hCG levels can correlate with down syndrome pregnancies. I'm 37 so I have an elevated risk of genetic abnormalities.
(I know this is tiresome. I'm trying to confine the crazy to one thread).
All you're doing is stressing yourself out and that's not good for you OR the baby. Anything else that might or might not be 100% can only be diagnosed by a real doctor and you stressing about what could possibly, maybe be going on won't change anything.
Please, please try to enjoy the fact that you've gotten here, that's a super good thing.
Sending many many good vibes and even more hugs your way!!!
I know. We'll know more at the u/s in two weeks and even more after the CVS in 6 weeks. I'm the type who needs to think through all the possibilities before I can calm down. Today, I'm feeling more calm.
So today I went in again (5w2d) and my hCG level is 27,804. That doesn't even fall into the top of the range until 6w1d. I know the timing is right. Why can't I just have levels in the normal range? At least we'll be doing CVS so I will have more information in 6 or so weeks. Aggle, Flabble, Klabble.
(Numbers from babymed which was the only site I can find which breaks them down by day. Does anyone know if it is run by quacks?)
Age of Embryo Avg Range hCG mIU/ml 28 4w+0d 75 50-100 29 4w+1d 150 100-200 30 4w+2d 300 200-400 31 4w+3d 700 400-1,000

I'm really surprised they are still doing betas at this point. Why didn't they do an u/s? Why wait? You should be able to see a gestational sac and probably a yolk sac at this point.
