Very interesting, thanks! I guess I was expecting more of a consensus - "Of course no one wears underwear with those things" or something similar. I have been going commando lately, but haven't been liking it. Also, hate thongs for working out. I'll check out some of the underwear from Kohls or VS!

It depends on the construction of the pants for me. If there is a front-to-back seam anywhere in the crotch, regardless of location, I *have* to wear undies or I risk the worst chafing EVER. Diamond-style crotch design only requires undies if there's no drawstring (as in, the waistband gap might show my crack if I bend down).
If there are built in undies or diamond-crotch with a waistband, I'm commando.
Never again. Worst.chafing.ever. It hurt to sit down, for like a week.
I don't care about VPL. It's worth it to me to be able to sit down after I run
I have the same problem. I have tried going underpantsless in running tights, but the seams. They're in all of the wrong places and they seem so abrasive. It's not good.
I only go commando if I'm in a ballet class. I always wear underwear (modal cotton - super soft and wicking). I can't do thongs. I used to run in them, but that led to an ingrown hair - which led to a pilonidal cyst (and surgery to remove it) - and that just sucked.
