And, let's be real. Have these moms not seen the garbage that's on Pinterest, too? Those bad DIY crafts do NOT cause anxiety.
"Save this pin for later because you will wonder how you lived without this advice! First, spray paint your flea market chair a nice vintage pink color. Then add some modpodge and smother it with glitter. The more the better! Next, add yarn. Even feathers! PEOPLE WILL BE JEALOUS OF HOW PRETTY YOUR NEW VINTAGE CHAIR IS!"
Pinterest isn't to blame. People's own insecurities are. These people need to get a grip.
Seriously. I love Pinterest for ideas and I don't give a rat's ass what other people are doing. Not to be all high and mighty or whatever, I just find more purpose in being jealous of thin people than crafty ones lol

I will say that I've fallen victim to pinterest stress (lol!). When I was getting ready for W's birthday I wanted it to be super awesome. I wanted to have decorations, and a banner on his high chair, and invitations, a cake, a sign on the door, and a birthday onesie and hat - all matching and all handmade. This is what the people on my BMB were doing and I want to be a super awesome mom, too. But I had to get the house ready for the party and prepare for 9 overnight guests while also getting prepped for the party on my own because MH was out of town. I managed the invites, the cake, and the onesie. It was still a great party and I remembered that no one IRL expects that shit.

I think it's also important to note that both of the people quoted in the article do online stuff and when you live most of your life online you start to lose touch with what's going on in the real world.
Pinterest stress? Oh goodness. I've been on Pinterest for years andf I don't think I have ever felt "stressed" by not being able to recreate a crafty project or recipe. Normally I stick to what I know I can do. I paper craft and I pin a lot of inspiration for that. I can recreate that stuff, no problem. Now if I started pinning sewing stuff and tried that I'd fail miserably! I just barely learned how to thread a machine. There is no way in heck I would ever dream I could make a beautiful dress or even a pillow case. As for recipes...well sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Whatever. So much insecurity in that article!
i have never perused pinterest because it isn't organized in a way i like, which apparently has saved me from unnecessary stress. i'm so glad that i find their layout too visually cluttered.
I love Pinterest! You know why? Because I have a grip on reality. It's been useful for keeping recipes and finding a few crafts that I think are doable and fun. 99% of things I see on there are not something I feel like I need to do. I don't need to craft to feel validated.

Omg! Too much! I just saw a teacher appreciation printable on pinterest that said, "I was going to make you a pinterest inspired gift but figured you didn't need a diorama of your classroom made entirely of crayons. Here's a gift card instead." love it!
Meh, I don't think I can ever stress on Pinterest. I rely on it a lot to give me creative ideas, but if I can't find it, oh well. I put off crafts in my head until I explore Pinterest for it, seeing if someone else came up with something better.
But I do take like two or three month vacas from it because people start to trend the WORST crap. Like there was a six month stretch I could not get away from food porn, baaaaad crockpot ideas and anorexic quotes/pics that make Pro-ana look tame. I think it was when I looked up something simple like "house mirrors" and I had a full page of just one over posted picture of some bony bitch in a frame with the quote "You'll feel less hungry when you look in the mirror." or some BS like that. I decided it was time for a break. When I came back a few months later they fixed it so I could look up toilet covers without having to look at crockpot mac n whatever on it.
