Mamasaurus also seems to have a bit of a narcissistic personality disorder as well, if she's her own damn troll.
No, I think she really wants to be liked by people here I think it's more important to her than most. If it was her, I think she did it to gauge how people really felt about her.
Well, if that's so, then I admit it is pretty sad.
Be exhausted all you want. Not everyone is offended by it, but I have friends whose kids have Aspergers who equate it with calling someone the R word.
Ooookay. Your point being? I am not going around saying the "a" word randomly, lol.
and I still think it is completely different in a sense that a lot of people with Asperger actually refer to themselves as aspies. I have never heard someone mentally disabled calling themselves a retard.
BUT ANYWAY. My point was that I had no idea. Hence why I used it. Now that I know that some people find it offensive, I will not use it again.
I think there's something of an analogy between adults with Aspergers using "aspie" to express ownership much as some claim to use the N word to diffuse its power to hurt.
IME, adults with Asperger Disorder on forums likes wrongplanet and GRASP are more likely to embrace "aspie" than their parents are. Temple Grandin has used the term in her books and lectures since collaborating with Tony Attwood.
I don't particularly care; I can't think of any other illness or condition where it's cool to have a diminutive sort of nickname. My son sometimes refers to himself or the odd stuff he does as aspie.
Oh lord, after 6 pages everybody is jumping at something to worked up about.
I don't think Auntie is comparing the words as in - "The N word and Aspie have the same ability to hurt and the same historical context."
She is CLEARLY saying that the Asperger's Community is trying to reclaim the word "aspie" in an effort to make it not hurtful. The feminist community has done something very similar with the word cunt. Would that have been an easier "comparison" to handle?

The April 2012 Mod changed the link to a rickroll instead of a link to this thread. Originally, the post linked here.
And Mamasaurus was a regular on April 2012 so that's why it was posted both places.
Sorry to bump this up, but I must be the absolute opposite of creepy smart, because I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS.
It means that since Mama posted on April 2012 as a reg and on ML as a reg; that the AE posting both places paints a big picture that Mama = Blinditemae

Thank you! It's not easy being wholesomely stupid!
