Sisugal says we should all be ashamed of ourselves.
ha ha why?
"I am willing to give them some time to work out the kinks in their system. I was disappointed that so many were hasty in their departure (as if their life depended on access to a chatboard???) and a few were down right hateful in their comments toward the Nest. Your character is showing."

I was curious so I checked out TN. This is what she said:

I find this hilarious and have forced myself not to even check the old boards to drive their stats down even further. And yes, my true character is a mean bitch.

Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!

Sisu is one of my fave MM folks but this is amusing. The entire point of forums is the ability to utilize them to communicate with others. If a forum can't offer this basic level of function in an age when most websites and forums are lightening fast, why would anyone tolerate what is nearly a worst-case scenario upgrade?

I know the woman who used to manage all of the research for theknot - she said that the number of people actually posting on the boards is a surprisingly low proportion of total visitors. That is - there are a whole lot more lurker than you would imagine.
It will be interesting how quickly a new generation of posters and lurkers pops up.

I agree. I think we gave TN plenty of time to fix things. How long had we been asking for the search function to be fixed? It's not like we all jumped ship at the first problem. And clearly many of us were fed up, given how quickly so many of us came here.
I wish Sisu would reconsider and join us. I think she'd like it here.

Also, many of us had already seen the changes when they converted the local boards and complained about the changes then. The Nest has had two months to improve the new look based on that feedback before rolling out the new format to the "life boards," and they made very few improvements. As far as I can tell, the only thing they did different this time was not to include the Facebook and Twitter links that were part of the initial roll out of the new format for the local boards.

We just got a "rumour control" post on our month board on the Bump from, I assume, A mod. Basically saying that the nesties are juvenile and impatient and need to chill and be wait things out. All will work itself out with time. This is normal with any new roll out. My biggest complaint is the slowness. The Knot became much slower after their change and it never sped up for me. (however, I gave up) they have to assume we are not that patient If ML hadnt taken over Pampers, but another board, they would probably not have noticed so much.
ETA: I find TN's response to all of this fascinating. I appreciate that some of the folks who work on the boards probably don't believe the company line they are being asked to tow, but I can only wonder at the culture of a website that regards a failed upgrade as normal and a mass exodus of users in response to said failure as evidence of petulance.

Sisu also told me I was "unethical" for discussing the Young House Love blog on the Decorating and Renovating board. Apparently you can only talk about blogs in the comments of said blog, or it is "gossiping." She seems to have very high standards, LOL.

Except they rolled out the local boards over a month ago with the exact same problems and none of them are fixed over there. I know local boards don't represent the same level of traffic as national boards do which is why, we assume, they were the testing ground. If they had any intention of improving the user experience, they would have corrected the bugs there before rolling out to their high traffic boards. So I call bullshit on their explanation.
