While it might not have been an especially funny episode, I'm a big sap so I really liked the finale. Everyone had their happy ending. Even Tobey got to dance with Pam!
There were so many parts where it felt that the actors, and not the characters, were getting teary eyed about saying goodbye. The end scene in the office with Creed singing that song really got to me. I thought it was a fitting end to have them all back for one last time.
I was happy that Michael came back to be Dwight's best man although I could have lived with his only line being "that's what she said". The part about watching his kids marry each other was a bit of a reach.
To end on a not so sappy know .. what the heck happened to Joan Cusack! Did they make her look awful on purpose? And BJ Novak didn't look too great on the retrospective either.
I really liked it too. It was obvious from the pre-show that the actors truly loved this job and this show, and I agree that it seemed like they were being themselves, not their characters, in many scenes. I was glad Michael came back in a small way. I think bringing him back in that capacity was perfect; I wanted him to be in it one more time without making the entire episode about him.
I've watched it since the beginning and the first 5 seasons were the best. Ever since Michael left, I sort of half-heartedly watched it and missed a few episodes, but the last few were really good again, and I'm sad to see it go.

This exactly. Watching the old clips with Michael Scott made me laugh so hard and I wish they would have ended the show there instead of trying to continue without him, bringing in random characters to attempt to fill his shoes. The show was at its best when it was just the regular cast, without guest stars. They should have made Dwight regional manager right away. Tons of material with that!
I didn't cry as hard as I thought I would but I think the comic relief really helped. I laughed more in this episode than I did in most of the past season combined.
The whole thing with Creed was hilarious. His moving speech at the end only to see that he was being arrested had me crying then laughing.

I watched the retrospective they aired before the finale too and liked seeing some of those great moments that I had forgotten, and reminded me how great the show was for a long time.
I thought the finale was really good, I felt like they resolved almost every character except Toby still didn't seem to have a happy future ahead (unless I missed something). I was bothered at the beginning by Kevin and Toby's firing but thought they did a good job with Kevin later.

Overall I liked it, but the Ryan abandoning his baby to run off with Kelly plotline was dumb. Just so far-fetched. I guess it played into Nellie being happy in the end though.

I thought it was a really well done finale. I liked that they gave everyone a happy ending. Even Toby, while his life isn't perfect, at least he got to move to NYC to pursue his dream of writing.
I thought the Kelly & Ryan story was quite fitting as they are both really selfish people, and it helped make Nelly's dream of motherhood come true, even if it was far fetched.
I thought they introduced Michael Scott back nicely. Although I wanted to see the pictures he was showing Pam on the phone. That could have been hilarious. It really made me smile that he has a family of his own now.
I loved the music at the reception. Very fitting for Dwight.
I'm glad that Jim and Pam are moving to Austin. Although I was kinda of like they obviously learned nothing from their communication problems as she is selling the house without telling him, but i get it was supposed to be her big gesture.
I'm glad the Andy character kind of returned to the old Andy we all know and love instead of being such a prick, lol.
I really liked the scene with the cast at the end back in the office and Creed's song and the final interviews with the camera.
Overall, I thought they did a great job with the finale.
