He was required by the dr to have a ride home. I drove him and he was a whiny misery the entire time....I think he was over acting a bit though. I would insist to your h that you drive home.
From my experience talking to patients that have had it done, even if it doesn't hurt, must guys are pretty anxious about it. I'd go for moral support.
DH wasn't allowed to drive home himself. A friend of his actually took him, since it is easier to find a ride to the doctors than someone to babysit 3 kids.
DH wasn't allowed to drive home after his vasectomy. He was pretty uncomfortable after the procedure and it would not have been a good idea for him to drive.
My husband did the scalpel-less surgery (so not sure if that is the same thing or not?). He was fine to drive home. I offered, but he didn't want me to. He was also running late to his appointment and was speeding and got a pretty huge ticket. I was PISSED, but luckily he had the vasectomy, so I took it easy on him. Just a little bitching
I know a couple guys who drove 10-20 miles home from the snip. To be honest, they had nice comfy sedans. I wouldn't want to make the trip in my DH's old Wrangler.
I had a breast biopsy done under a local anesthetic- needed to get it done while DS was in school because I had no childcare. Surgeon couldn't get a surgical suite, so it was done in his office. DH was on a business trip and my BFF doesn't drive so I drove 45 minutes home. It really wasn't a big deal- ice pack and a supportive pair of briefs he should be fine. He probably won't need stitches.
Like someone else mentioned, it's not just whether or not he's uncomfortable, he'll be under at least a local for the procedure (which itself only lasts maybe ten minutes). He needs someone else to drive.
I drove him mostly for moral support. And I brought him a pack of frozen peas.
He came out and said that it was worth it because of the pain that I went through to give him our children. And he said he has never felt so vulnerable as to have his legs open and balls right in the face of the doctor. I'm like "Welcome to our yearly OBGYN visit dude!"
They gave him some sort of pain killer and he was fine the next day. Make sure he does take it easy for a while though. The doctor should give him orders.
A local anesthetic is not the same as being on drugs.
Novocaine is a local anesthetic and I sure as shit drive myself home from the dentist. Then again, I hated people being around me before, during or after medical procedures.
