My radiator is leaking apparently, my grill is broken, the hood of my car is crumpled. I just paid this thing off in March. He isn't sure what else is wrong with it.
He is at work, just got there. He said he's not going to push it to come home tonight. He said he'll check it out while he's at work. UGH!!
My friend's wedding, 100 miles away, is in FOUR DAYS with the rehearsal being THREE days away. We don't own another vehicle.
I need to see if our insurance covers deer or else he is taking off work tomorrow and going to the junk yard to replace all this shit.
I'm in no way mad at him, because dude, deer are shitbags. They're cute an all but ugh!
OMG that sucks I hope your insurance will cover it- do you know if you have a rental available through insurance so you can make it to your friend's wedding?
In order for us to get a rental, we'd have to drive half way to my parent's house anyway. Plus we have to take our dog with us. Uggh.
I need to call the insurance company. This is just sucky timing. If insurance doesn't cover it, he's just going to fix it himself. He'll have to take off work to do it but right now, my main focus is her wedding. He can miss a day of work. But he won't touch it if insurance will cover it.
Anecdote! I hit a deer and had a rental car the next day. Insurance coverage EVERYTHING! But it's very important to say that the DEER hit you NOT that YOU hit the deer.

Lol. Deer are always comprehensive no matter who hit who; debris like tires, branches, rocks, etc is when you want to specify they hit you vs you hit them :-)

I hate deer. Hate them. I'm sorry that sucks. I'm glad your husband wasn't injured. Hopefully, you have a clause in your insurance that covers a rental while your car is being repaired.
If you have comprehensive coverage, insurance will pay for all of it minus your deductible. And if they cover the cost of a rental, then it's even better.

I'm sorry about your car op
My insurance agent was very clear about asking me about which way it happened. In my case, the deer DID hit me so I guess it was covered either way. I also had to file a police report about it, not sure if you have to do that OP.
We did the same thing last fall, right down to the damage and insurance covered everything. Did he file a police report? We had to do they to make our claim. It was a massive pita. I am sorry.
Don't judge me! I'm still on my Dad's policy. He co-signed my vehicle and I just paid it off 2 months ago, so I'm still on his and when I talked to him about getting my own plan he told me to leave it just how it is. (He did the same thing for my brothers until they hit 25, no matter what they were doing in their lives)
He said mine is covered for full insurance and that they cover deer. But there's no way it'll get fixed in time (obviously). He said he does have a clause in his for both him and I about getting rental vehicles, it covers like $25 a day or something. But the rental places they go through (since he just went through this the other week, he hit my brother's car...in the driveway. lol) are specific companies.
For the money we'd spend on a rental car, my Husband is just going to go ahead and fix what he can to make it drive able and then the cosmetic stuff I'll talk to the insurance company about. Thankfully my Husband has fixed numerous other cars so it's no big deal for him to fix it, but he didn't want to touch it if it was going to mess up the insurance. My Dad said go ahead and fix what he wants, he's done the same thing.
If we find out that more is wrong with it than what we think/can see, we will probably go rental car route.
Do rental cars allow you to put animals in them? We have to take our dog with us...that was another "nooo, I need my vehicle" concern because she does have to come with us.
I feel better after talking to my Dad and my Husband feels better knowing he can go ahead and get the replacement radiator.

Yes, rentals allow you to put animals in them. $25/ day will get you probably up to a mid size vehicle (those rental companies you're referring to have discounted rates for each insurance company; you will likely have little to nothing OOP if you don't elect any additional coverage).
If your husband is going to fix anything on the car to make it driveable; take pictures first. One standing at each of the four corners of the vehicle and a couple clearly showing whatever he is going to fix. This will be helpful for everyone in the long run. Also- if there's any deer hair, guts, blood, or snot present- take a pic of that, too.
I'm still going to call the insurance company in the morning and tell them what happened/what we are going to fix. So that they know we are going to do this before we do this.
