We went to a local carnival a few weeks ago and a wrist band was $25 per person and parking was $10. The Disney prices don't surprise me. Luckily I only have 1 kid.

INDEED THEY ARE! but for one rainy afternoon, getting free family passes to disney, it's worth it!
I'd never got to travel out of the midwest as a kid. I really want to visit the Harry Potter theme park at Universal someday, I don't have a big desire to see Disney though. The ticket price seems cheap I bet compared to how much you end up spending on eating there.
I just bought my tickets for October, because I knew the price was going up. We are renting a 5 bedroom house with pool and hot tub, and the Disney tickets are more than the price to rent the house for a week.
FYI for those waiting until kids are older, kids under 3 get in for free

I thought it was under 2.
Kids 2 and under, so as of their 3rd birthday they need tickets.
We are going in September and I had bought about half the tickets before the price increase. I wanted to buy them all before the price increase but some unexpected stuf came up and now I need to pay more.
Did you check undercovertourist? As of yesterday I know they still had some left at the old prices.

I grew up very close to Disneyland. We never went during school breaks or holidays. They used to run a promotion that local resident adults would get in for the kids price so my dad could take me and we got in for $64 total. $92 for one person seems insane.
I can believe and H and I have gone twice now. When I was kid I was surprised we got to go the number of times we did, but it turns out Disney employees get free tickets (I didn't know that at the time.)
I've lived in Orlando all my life and I've only been to WDW maybe 3 times. Now that we're coming up on an age W would enjoy it, I don't know anyone who works out there to get us in free. Our last "cast member" friend had the nerve to go and get a grown up job last year, lol. I'm sure at some point we will end up going, but I'd really rather take that $$$$ and take a trip that I feel is worth that kind of cash. $100/ticket (and it'll get there) to that place is outrageous IMO.
We're going in July. When I started looking at the cost of everything, I really started to wonder how a family with the average U.S. income does Disney. Because holy smokes, just getting in the gate is a huge expense, even if you camp or skimp on practically everything else.
I would still pay it, it would just sting a bit paying that price. Luckily BF's parents are paying for us all to go in a couple years, definitely grateful for that!
I feel the same way about taking young toddlers and infants. I'm sure they'd have a good time, but they won't remember anything and won't be allowed to participate in very much that's going on. Kind of defeats the purpose, they'd have as much fun at the local park.
We're going to Orlando next year on a family trip w/ the ILs. The idea of spending a week with them makes me want to poke my eyes out (and DH and I are actually on the same page...), but it's for their 50th wedding anniversary and "really important" to FIL, blah blah blah.
And since FIL is paying, well... o.k. It's actually the only way we could afford Disney anyhow. And DS will be 5.5.
We will have an almost 4 year old, and an 18 month old when we go. I don't expect either to remember it. Lol. We plan on going more than once though. DS1 will definitely enjoy it more than the local park, and I am just glad we don't have to pay for the baby.
It is still cheaper for us then a lot of our other vacation options, especially when we factor in airfare for four people.
I'm going in October with the 2 girls (by that time they'll be 8 and 6) and booked it through AAA, I think total the trip including air fare, staying on property (budget resort) and the meal plan was under $2K...H is staying home with baby girl, it was the only way
Do they still offer the passes that do not expire?
We would suck it up and buy the 10 day park hopper passes that never expired. We were able to get a few trips out of the passes. The more times you go to WDW, the less you feel the need to go into the park every day of your trip.
We also took DD1 when she was 2 and she had fun. She recalls somethings and we do look at photos from out trip. We also went last winter with DD1 age 4 and DD2 20 months. DD2 had a blast meeting Minnie and Mickey. She loved the parades and meeting princesses. Will she remember it all? Most likely not, but I have photos and I will remember the look on her face. Plus- she was free to fly, get into the parks and eat
here's my "nah-nah" post :-) we're going in February to take DS for the first time (he turns 3 a couple months before we go). We're staying with my parents in their big camper at Disney's Fort Wilderness campground. (we always stayed there when we went growing up, and had a blast- so looking forward to going back there! so yay for splitting the cost of the campsite. AND my cousin and her boyfriend work in the corporate offices down there, so we should all be able to get our Park Hopper passes for free :-)
Yeah, I had major sticker shock when I realized that three-day passes for two adults and two kids would set us back nearly $1,000, but in the end I probably would have paid twice that for how much fun we had.
FYI for those waiting until kids are older, kids under 3 get in for free
We went with friends who went to the park a day earlier than us and told us that no one even questioned when they didn't buy a separate ticket for their 2.5 y.o. So when we went the next day, we tried it with our 3 y.o., and no one questioned us either even though she's as big as a 4 y.o. It saved us almost $250, and no, Disney, I DO NOT FEEL GUILTY!
Do they still offer the passes that do not expire?
I thought I read that they're doing away with those in the near future, but when I just tried to find anything about it, the only thing I saw mentioned was that they are no longer available for purchase online. Hm.
I've been spoiled by parks like Cedar Point. Obviously we don't have kids, but no fucking way I'd spend $100 to go to Disney.
I just want to ride the big rides all day long...and so do my kids. We aren't the types to watch shows and just...look at things? We grew up going to Cedar Point and it wasn't until I was older that I realized that most amusement parks don't have 12 huge roller coasters in one place. Plus...CP passes are only $120. You go 3 times and it's paid for.
I'd rather just go to Cedar Point 3 times, since that's the stuff we like.
We are "those people" who go to Disney World every year from out of state. They make the 1-day tickets ridiculously expensive in order to entice you to add on another day, two days, three days, etc. The price per day drops considerably when you go for 5-6 days, as compared to just the one.
Go to undercovertourist.com. We just bought our tickets there for next week. If you join Mousesavers.com and get their newsletters you can get even more of a discount at undecovertourist.com
