someone mentioned splatter paint...I desperately wanted to paint my bedroom walls in handprints and/or splatter paint. For some reason my mom wouldn't let me.
I went over to a neighbor's house a couple years ago and it looked like this! That was my first thought when they opened the door: "wow, '90s"
totally! i graduated from college in 93 and my first sofa was a plaid with these same shades, the first townhouse i bought had dark green laminate kitchen counter tops and green tile surround on the fireplace. i was also part of the group of people that bought a bunch of Longaberger baskets for decor and because of their collectibility. LOL, little did I know.
at least a slipcover in a soft buttery cream over the plaid transitioned the sofa and solid navy chair and a half chair that i had into a french country style when we headed into the 2000's. only lasted a few years for me before tuscan took over in an effort to bring in my DH's style bent toward spanish which didn't work with french country like items as well as tuscan did.
OMG. I had the whole Laura Ashley pink set in my bedroom, right down to the table skirt and topper. The sheets that came with it were really nice, they wore like iron and never pilled. I have them on my pull out sofa as we speak.
What about vertical blinds with cloud valances or swags and jabots?
Wallpaper borders at the ceiling... especially of fruit, grapes, apples, chickens, or cows.
Sidenote--I had the BIGGEST crush on JTT. A family friend of my husband's had a umm... romantic connection to one of his parents. Like, their kids went to birthday parties with him. I was SO JEALOUS.

Our living room was burgundy and hunter green. Every room had to have a wallpaper border. Some of them were close to the ceiling, but some were in the middle with either a different color paint or wallpaper on the bottom half. I remember people being obsessed with fake vines and vines wallpaper.
