I think that's fine. We took Benjamin to lunch around the corner when he was 7 days old. It was mid 70s but we stayed out for about an hour. Gratuitous pic:

I took Cecile out for about an hour when she was seven days old too! A crawfish boil for H's law school graduation. I had him feed me the crawfish so I didn't get the seasoning on her skin later - haha. It was hot as hell that evening, but we kept her in a breeze or under the porch fans. She was fine.
for sure. my kid was born in december, and even though it was arctic that winter i took her out for hour + walks every day, starting when she was maybe a week old (as soon as i could walk that long).
Yep, both of my babies were going for stroller rides that young and younger. She should be fine in light clothing and under full shade. Getting outside was awesome for me, and I think it helped them sleep better (personal theory, lol.)
The nice thing about the bassinet is that they aren't all snugged up against padding so it's not quite so hot. It is nice here at night right now, not too terribly hot, and being outside is great for calming babies during the witching hour. Do it!
we had an uncharacteristically hot summer in 2011, the summer G was born. i took him out every day in the stroller, usually before 11am, but the temperature was already in the high 30s/low 40s with the humidex. it never occurred to me that it might be dangerous. he was always in a leg-less onsie and shaded. we'd go out for 15-60 minutes.
the fresh air is so good for them.
DS was born that summer too, and we did lots of morning and evening walks.
It was a great year to be on mat leave, no? I think there were only 2 or 3 days I didn't get him and the dog out that winter even it was so mild.
I think it would be ok just dress her in light clothing.
Are you going to put her in the snap n go? If so don't they have car seat fans?
We would use the bassinet that came with our UppaBaby Vista
Get her outside! The fresh air is good for her.
I have the UppaBaby and Connor loved the bassinet- only if we'd swaddle him though. That only lasted while he was a newborn. If she doesn't like the bassinet (a lot of babies don't) use the car seat adapter for the vista.
I started strolling both my daughters before they were even 1 week old. With my oldest, I had the opposite problem; it was April in Chicago and a little cold. But babies are very hardy, really. I think they enjoy the fresh air; I know I did!
Do you have a carrier? A tiny baby might like a walk better snuggled next to you. But I did strollers most of the time with DD1 and it was fine.
Hey, if babies can nap outside in Nordic winters, I think she will be fine for a walk in the heat. Babies are very tolerant, properly dressed.
The nurse (kindly) scoffed at me when I panicked about how I was going to get my newborn from the hospital to the car in Boston in January. She pointed this out to me. In retrospect I feel like an idiot.
And also to answer op, we move to 8 degrees north of the equator when that same child was 5 months old, and we were out every day, just not between 10 or so and 3 or so. We slathered with sunblock (again, mine was older, but we did not wait for the 6-month suggestion at the rec of our pediatrician) and one of my personal successes as a parent is that in nearly 5 years in the tropics, neither boy ever got a sunburn. I was fanatical about sunblock and hats, and when it was necessary, sleeves, even on hot days. Do they make sunblock that's appropriate for newborns? (If so, buy stock in that company.)
Totally fine! I had my son out in the uppa baby vista bassinet at 3 days old. The only weather I won't take him out in is rain, since I don't have a rain cover for the bassinet.
Yes! We were out walking when she was a few days old. Used the net w/ Vista bassinet and everything was fine, no bug bites. I think I did put a really light blanket on her.
For sure. We had Cecilia out a ton pretty early. Careful not to overdo it for yourself. If anything, I overdid it a bit for my body post birth.
I found taking one of those lightweight muslin blankets ( iused Aden + Anais ones) was helpful for sunlight/bugs/whatever to drape over stroller. Helped me keep her cool but covered a bit.
Since newborns need an extra layer to maintain their temp, just put her in a onesie and no blanket. The heat will be equivalent to an extra layer. She'll absolutely be just fine. Plus the nights are so wonderful in Houston right now. Enjoy!
We were staying in a hotel in Las Vegas when DS was born, and we weren't able to leave the state to come home until he was two weeks old. I asked the pediatrician at the hospital if it was okay to take him places because I didn't want to be cooped up in a hotel room, and he said that I could take him anywhere I wanted but just don't let people touch him. I took that baby all over the strip - to the movies, to the Wynn buffet, walking around the Bellagio, etc. He was three days old when I first took him out. It was really great to be out and about, although I got a lot of weird stares and comments about what I was doing in Vegas with a brand new baby.
